Sublimation printer

Printers suitable for sublimation printing typically work with water-insoluble disperse dyes. These are also often referred to as sublimation printers or "sublime" printers.

Sublimation printer is probably the most important aspect of this printer and can be the difference between a cheap-looking shirt – and a shirt with high quality and high-resolution printing.

What is a Sublimation Printer Used For?

It’s best suited to clothing and fibres (polyester clothing works best). It also works exceptionally well on hard surfaces that have polycoating.

This poly-coating is needed because the dye needs a place to set. The layer of polycoating on hard surfaces like mugs and plates is the perfect spot to hold the dye in place.

Here are the most common examples:

  • Mugs

  • Plates

  • Pieces of decorative china

  • Mousepads

  • Polyester clothing

  • Coasters

How to Use a Sublimation Printer?

  • A sublimation printer is a type of inkjet printer specially designed for printing images on sublimation paper using sublimation ink. These printers are available in both desktop and business sizes.

  • To use a sublimation printer, you must install the appropriate driver software and create a print queue. You'll also need to set the correct print settings for your printer. After the image is ready, you can print it on sublimation paper. The paper should be cut to size before being put into the heat press.

  • Apply heat and pressure to the paper using a heat press. Once the image is transferred, remove the paper from the heat press and allow it to cool before handling it.

  • Be sure to position the paper correctly in the heat press, and use the press to apply even pressure for a set amount of time. Allow the item to cool completely before handling.
