Thank you for visiting my webpage. I am Subhasish Modak Chowdhury (শুভাশীষ মোদক চৌধুরী), a researcher in Economics. My interests cover contest theory, behavioral economics, industrial organization etc. I currently teach Industrial Organization, Economics of Innovation, and Marxian Economics. • I am co-organizing the 10th Annual 'Contests: Theory and Evidence' Conference on June 27-28, 2024 - to be held at the University of Reading, UK. Paper submission deadline is April 15!

• I am co-organizing the Sheffield Workshop on Behavioural Economics on June 13-14, 2024 - to be held at the University of Sheffield, UK. Paper submission deadline is April 15!

• New working paper: Using a national level survey, we show that the COVID-19 induced lockdown did not necessarily increase intemate partner violence (IPV) in India. For some demographics, the IPV was reported to be less during the pandemic.  

• New Working paper: We show theoretically and empirically (with data from the game of Cricket!) that awareness and scrutiny about identity-driven bias in judgement may not only eliminate such bias, but can also reverse it. 

• I am elected into the Executive Committee of the Economic Science Association for 2023-2026.
