Welcome to the website of SUA Watchmakers! As an on-campus club, workshop, and community, we enjoy horology and promote craftsmanship through the process of customizing and repairing watches.
While watch repairs are free campus-wide, we take paid watch-building commissions. From switching the bracelet to customizing the logo on the dial, we can build the most personalized watch for you out of your dream. In fact, every labeled part in the image below is customizable.
Our profits will be either donated to trusted organizations or used to buy watchmaking tools.

The personal value that you can attach to a watch is infinite. Now imagine a watch so personal that it's customized for you only – that's what we offer.
The DIY watch modding culture largely started with the legendary Seiko SKX007 model. Famous for its cheap price (around $300), stable quality, and diverse color, SKX007 was the perfect entry-level dive watch globally. At some point, the owners began to disassemble and exchange their SKX007 parts for a better look.
The exchanges of these original components quickly triggered aftermarket productions. Passionate sellers around the world started to produce compatible parts with their own designs. Their websites will be our general destination of purchase. Please don’t get confused with the “Seiko” logo on their products –it’s a way for them to pay homage to the brand. Our story
It started in the spring of 2021 when our president Jerry stumbled upon a watch-modding video on his search for a watch to celebrate his 20th birthday. He found it playful and personal, and he realized its cost efficiency – why would you buy a big brand watch for its designs when you can build your own one? This is particularly attractive to students with low budgets.
He delved into watch modding as a pandemic hobby and became an expert over the summer. Requests for commissions arrived after he shared this story on social media. Recognizing its potential, he founded this club after returning to campus in the fall.
