Study Tabs is a browser extension that adds reading, vision, focus, and listening controls to websites, so course material is easier to read and use. This page explains, in plain language, what the extension does and does not do with your information.
In short: Study Tabs does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Every setting you choose is stored only in your own browser and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
None. Study Tabs does not have a server, does not use analytics or tracking scripts, and does not send any data over the network. We — the developer — have no way to see your settings, the pages you visit, or any text you select.
Your accessibility preferences (font, text size, spacing, contrast mode, motion setting, focus outline, and reading ruler) are saved using your browser's built-in chrome.storage.sync feature. This:
Stays inside your browser (and syncs across your own signed-in Chrome devices, using Google's own sync — not a service we operate).
Is never transmitted to Study Tabs or any third party.
Can be cleared at any time from the extension's popup ("Reset all to defaults") or by removing the extension.

Lets the popup tell the current tab to read selected text aloud or stop reading, only when you click those buttons.
Host permission (all sites)
Applies your reading, contrast, and motion settings on whatever site you're using — since school platforms vary widely, the toolkit needs to work everywhere, not just on a fixed list of domains.
The "Read selection aloud" feature uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis. The text you select is read locally on your device and is not sent anywhere.
Study Tabs is designed for use in school settings, including by students under 18. Because the extension collects no personal information of any kind — from students or anyone else — it does not knowingly collect data from children, and there is no personal data to request the deletion of.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after a change means you accept the updated policy.
