Program Budget
Find your program here and click on the Costs tab to view the budget sheet (cost estimate).
The budget sheet shows what will be billed to your student account, along with estimates of out-of-pocket expenses you may incur while abroad. These may vary depending on your personal spending habits.
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) will use the Official Program Budget to create your study abroad financial aid package.
Review budgets carefully before committing to the program and speak to an advisor in Gies Global Programs or Financial Aid about any concerns.
Budgets can be found in My Study Abroad.
Gies Business and campus billable tuition and fees will be billed to your student account shortly before the start of each term. Study Abroad fees are payment plan eligible. Learn more about Payment Due Dates or contact USFSCO.
Spring: First week of January (Due February 28)
Summer programs: First week of May (Due June 28)
Fall: First week of August (Due September 28)
During the fall or spring terms, students must take the equivalent of 12 Illinois credit hours (or 15 for MAP Grant recipients) in order to be eligible for Financial Aid.
If studying abroad during the summer term, undergrad students must obtain 6 or more credits to be eligible for financial aid.
Email finaidstudyabroad@illinois.edu to ask how study abroad will affect your financial aid. Please include one or two specific programs that you are interested in when you make your request.
Typically, if the study abroad cost is greater than UIUC: you will be offered additional loans. Grants/scholarships remain nearly the same.
Typically, if the study abroad program cost is less than UIUC: need-based aid is recalculated based on program cost and other aid may be reduced to fit within need and budget.
