In this unit on the Medieval Japan, students will using their Textbook with Common Core Standards in History to create an image or video that conveys the vocabulary word that was assigned. Students will examine a Medieval Japan's social structures through tier three, or domain specific, vocabulary. In this case words that are used specifically in History to explore how these concepts interplay with the Medieval Japan and the world around them. Students will use the Google Form Template for TikTok produced by Mat Miller.
Time Frame two weeks.
Culminating activity: Students will create a picture or video and comment on classmates pictures in exploring the question, "How can tier three vocabulary give insight into Medieval Japanese Culture?"

7.5 Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of Medieval Japan.
7.5.3. Describe the values, social customs, and traditions prescribed by the lord-vassal system consisting of shogun, daimyo, and samurai and the lasting influence of the warrior code in the twentieth century.

Students will work with varied vocabulary strategies that will help them explore the meanings of vocabulary from their textbook (DOK 1- 3). Students must select one word from the vocabulary in Chp 9 and take a picture or produce a 10 sec video that would represent that word. (DOK 4) They will then post it to a class slide show and hashtag it their selected vocabulary word. Then students must respond to their classmates hashtag and explain how they see the connection between the selected word and the image provided (DOK 4). Student presentations are posted below by period.
