What is social cognition?

Social cognition is a research domain that examines the mechanisms through which our experiences and neurobiology shape the way we engage with other people. It integrates research from various disciplines within the cognitive and social sciences and employs a broad spectrum of methods including neuro-imaging, computational modelling, behavioral experiments, big-data, and surveys.

What is the Social Cognition Meetup

We are a group of students and early career scholars from several research institutions that share a common interest, research in social cognition. Through our monthly online and yearly in person meet ups we aim to foster a supportive community of aspiring scholars. 

Our History

The social cognition meet up dates back to the 2022 Annual Convention of the Society of Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) in San Fransisco (USA). Through the conference platform we coordinated a small meet up next to the conference hotel. Since then we have steadily grown to include more and more members from different institutions

Our Meet Ups

Every month we meet virtually to discuss topics of interest, get feedback on half-baked research ideas, practice important presentations, and host senior scholars of the field.

Once a year we meet in person at the SPSP Annual Convention

Our Aims

We aim to foster a collaborative, supportive, and open science by connecting students interested in social cognition from various sub disciplines and backgrounds. Our meet ups are supposed to provide students with a relaxed environment in which they can openly share they work and ideas no matter at what the idea and how far along in their academic career the student is.
