Account Data: Full name, university email address (e.g., @myuwc.ac.za, @myuct.ac.za), and password.
Profile Details: University affiliation, sex, and profile picture.
Verification Status: Status of your student email verification.
1.2 User-Generated Content
Marketplace Listings: Product names, descriptions, prices, categories, and images you upload.
Chat Messages: Text and metadata sent through our real-time messaging system.
1.3 Payment Information
Transaction Details: We use YOCO for payment processing. When you pay for a listing fee, your credit card details are collected directly by YOCO. We do not store or process your full credit card information on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data to:
Verify Student Status: Ensure only valid university students can access the marketplace.
Facilitate Transactions: Display your listings to other students at your university.
Enable Communication: Allow buyers and sellers to chat in real-time.
Monetization Management: Track your free trial status and process listing fees via YOCO.
Improve Service: Analyze usage patterns to enhance app performance.
3. Information Sharing
Public (Within App): Your listings, profile name, university, and profile picture are visible to other authenticated students at your university.
Service Providers: We share necessary data with Supabase (Database, Auth, and Storage) and YOCO (Payment Gateway) to run the app.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law to protect student safety or comply with legal processes.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures provided by Supabase, including:
Row Level Security (RLS): Ensuring only you (and the intended recipient) can access your private messages and profile data.
Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access & Update: Modify your profile details at any time through the "My Profile" page.
Delete Account: Request the deletion of your account and all associated data.
Manage Listings: Edit or remove your product listings at any time.
6. University Email Requirement
To maintain a safe community, we require users to sign up using an official university email domain. By doing so, you consent to our verification of your university affiliation.
