Esperanto Overview:

• Esperanto was created in the 1880s by a Jewish-Polish optometrist.

• There are about 2 million Esperanto speakers world wide.

• The goal was to create a language that would help people with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds communicate with each other.

• It is phonetic, it is logical, it has no irregular verbs, and is considered the "easiest of all living languages."
