Listening to inspiring songs and music are great ways to inspire a growth mindset in your children or students. When you play songs with encouraging lyrics you can lift up the mood, bring smiles, and increase motivation!

This RCA Victor CD features most of the songs recorded by Mario Lanza for the 1954 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film The Student Prince. These include several that would become closely identified with the tenor: "Serenade," "Drink! Drink! Drink!," "Beloved," and "I'll Walk With God." The last two selections are not by Sigmund Romberg, the original composer of The Student Prince, but were written especially for the film version by Nicholas Brodszky and Paul Francis Webster. Generally regarded as being among Lanza's finest renditions of English-language songs, The Student Prince was recorded in 1952, with one remake ("Beloved") in May 1953. For contractual reasons, the singing of soprano Ann Blyth (who originally sang with Lanza on two of the numbers) has been replaced by that of Elizabeth Doubleday on this disc. Constantine Callinicos was appointed Mario Lanza's musical director for the film, and most of the soundtrack recordings were made with Constantine Callinocos conducting the MGM Orchestra.

This research explores the development of the Orff approach in Taiwan and its applications in the teaching of singing. The researcher seeks to examine the effects of Orff activities in raising the interest of junior high school students in singing. The literature review includes the historical background of the Orff approach and the examination of potential creative adaptations in the teaching of folk songs. In this research, the following are discussed: music education in Taiwan, the development of the Orff approach in private schools, comparisons and contrasts between the New and the Old Curricula in Taiwan, the nature of folk songs, and materials used in Arts and Humanities courses. The Orff-approach to the teaching of folk songs includes learning singing technique, singing to percussion instruments and the recorder, and vocal improvisation.

As new freshmen begin moving onto campus in August, many will need to learn about traditions, common sights and phrases that many existing students already know. Below are some traditions that every UA student should know about.

Coming into ETHS, one Friday tradition always stood out: the Friday Song. After hearing about it from older siblings and friends as middle-schoolers, we had become rightfully excited at the prospect of music playing over the PA system at the end of each week. However, upon becoming Wildkits, the general lack of interest surrounding the Friday Song left us disappointed. An opportunity to increase school spirit, instill a sense of belonging and just generally have fun, the Friday Song has fallen short of its potential for most of the last 29 years it has been a tradition. If ETHS is to allow this occasion to be the festivity that it is meant to be, then the school should let students vote on the song that is played.

As the Evanstonian has previously covered, ETHS has a school spirit problem. Many students just do not see the appeal of pajama days, pep rallies or school formals like they have in the past. After school went remote last March though, spirit has become something that seems a lot more special.

ETHS is at a crossroads. Whenever we return fully in-person, students will either fall back into old patterns of boredom or develop a new sense of school spirit and pride. If this is desired, then administrators must listen to student voices so that it can be created.

A: The girls have a median of 50 and a mean of 46, whereas the boys have a median of 33 and a mean of 34. Mean being the average number, we can assume that on average, it is the sixth grade girls that have downloaded more music, with a mean of 46, which is larger than 34 of the boys. The median for the girls at 50 is also larger then 33 for the boys, and the median means the middle most number of the data. So therefore, the girls have downloaded more overall songs in the past two months on their media player then the boys. Additionally, the mode for girls is 50 and 81, whereas the boys have no specific mode.

C: I believe that it is possible to make valid conclusions based on the data collected, but there were only 10 data points collected for each group, and it would be more beneficial to have a larger sample size to get more accurate information. It is good that the survey was considered random, but there are many possible errors that could occur in such a situation. The sixth graders may not accurately remember how many total songs from the past two months they downloaded, though it did seem as if it was showing accurate data so they may have been able to look at their media player to check, which would be better.
