Stucky Halloween’s purpose is to create stories and art for Halloween. Halloween’s spirit should be in your stories and art. Your stories and art can be based on beloved classics like Hocus Pocus, Dracula, and It.
You can explore the horror genre which is defined as “a genre of fiction whose purpose is to create feelings of fear, dread, repulsion, and terror in the audience—in other words, it develops an atmosphere of horror.”
Horror more than any genre allows you to explore human nature because when we are afraid, we can’t hide from ourselves or others.
You can explore dark themes such as tragedy or grief because horror helps us with grief.
You can also explore fun, campy, spooky stories because Halloween makes all of us kids again.
This year, we are introducing our first theme, nature.
Nature is “the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth as opposed to humans or human creations. The physical force regarded as causing and regulating these phenomena.”
Your story or art should include the theme of nature.
