Structural geology and Tectonics, the fundamental subjects in geological sciences, are the scientific discipline of the three-dimensional distribution of rock units concerning their deformational histories. Structural geology deals with the geometric relationships of rocks and geologic features in general. The scope of structural geology is vast, ranging in size from submicroscopic lattice defects in crystals to mountain belts and plate boundaries. Research aspects of structural geology can be classified into structural geometry, kinematics, and mechanics. The research fields of the Structural geology and Tectonics Laboratory of the Chonnam National University are mostly focused on the geometry and kinematics of deformed rocks with some mechanics approaches for them.
