Strike Fighters 2 is a PC combat / flight simulator game that primarily centers on a fictitious conflict in the Middle East between the Kingdom of Dhimar and the Empire of Paran from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. Although the countries and conflict may not be real, the aircraft and weapons used are completely accurate. The conflict is modeled as a typical Cold War era 'proxy' war between the United States and USSR where Dhimar gets help from the US and Paran uses imported Soviet equipment and expertise.

JASF: Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters is an arcade-style flight simulator developed by Trickstar Games and published by Maximum Family Games.[1] Released in October 2011,[1] it was the first game to have the Jane's title in over a decade. Unlike the previous games in the Jane's Combat Simulations line, JASF does not feature realistic gameplay and instead focuses more on arcade-style gameplay.[2]

Is this a reasonable simulation? The answer is no...it is more an arcade game, though the missile employment shows some good simulation like aspects. Two excellent examples of flight simulation for mobile are F-Sim Space Shuttle (a shuttle approach and landing sim) and X-Plane. Both are much closer to actual simulators...and X-Plane has multiplayer! But no combat.

Mainly to motivate myself, I made an initial test regarding using 3D assets from SF2 in the open source flight simulator FlightGear.

Since FlightGear uses the same 3D graphics library (OpenSceneGraph) that I also use in the LODViewer, I could easily reuse my LOD file loader plugin with only minor modification.

This is only an initial test. There are still a lot things to do regarding 3D models: animations, shader adaption, .... not to mention reimplementing the SF2 FDM in FlightGear. But maybe some day...

Strike Fighters is a multi-faceted flight-simulation game that features one of the most versatile combat aircraft of all time - the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. The core of the game is traditional combat flight-simulation - players take command of a thundering jet fighter and engage in aerial dogfight with enemy fighters while seeking and destroying ground targets. The game is set in the 1960s - when aviation technology was still primitive, but advancing at a rapid pace. Some missiles and guided weapons are available later in the game, but true to history, they remain somewhat unreliable and inaccurate. Most air battles involve visceral, in-your-face gunfights, and your skill at outmaneuvering your opponents remains the key to victory and survival.

The Super Hornet promised a cost-effective alternative to aging and expensive platforms during the 1990s. It was never intended for peer combat. Commanders have to give up the flexibility that the F/A-18 has traditionally provided to make it more effective. Specialization will help to provide commanders with the air wing they want in the shortest possible time. Without strike fighters ready for offense, the carrier exists just to defend itself.

Wings Over Israel is a military flight simulator set in Israel between the years 1967 and 1982. It was re-relased as part of the Strike Fighters franchise in 2010 under the name Strike Fighters 2: Israel.

This series of games is designed by Tsuyoshi Kawahito (known as 'TK'), who was also involved in some of the 1990s best selling PC flight simulators, including European Air War (1998) by MicroProse and Longbow 2 (1997) by Jane's Combat Simulations.

Pulling various ideas from the After Burner, you embark into hostile enemy territory in an F/A-18 Hornet attack fighter. Encounter MIG fighters and Bear Bombers as the action happens both in the air and on the ground! Designed like a simulator, this game features a more complex control scheme than modern players may be used to. This serves to make the game more realistic and thus more enjoyable. There are three challenging levels to explore, each with selectable mission objectives as a way to keep players coming back for more!

In 1996, I was in a group of six Funcom employees that left the company to start our own business. Initially we were starting a Norwegian branch of DMA Designs, but financial issues at DMA left us starting an independent company instead. (Ironically, DMA Designs released Grand Theft Auto a couple of years later - no more financial issues for them!) We named the company Innerloop, and since our programmers had come up with a nice 3D fractal landscape engine, we decided to do a flight simulator.

A year or so later we released Joint Strike Fighter, a pretty successful action flight simulator. We wanted to make a game that combined the accessibility of classic simulators like A-10 Cuba (PC) and Interceptor (Amiga) and the depth of contemporary simulators. I was the lead artist on the project, and did most of the in-game graphics as well as some presentation art. Here are some of the artwork I made for the game, both in-game artwork and promotional material. The artwork is a blend of 3D render and digitally painted images.

DGy units will be deployed in the F-35 mission simulator's multiple pilot pods, recording everything the pilots observe during maneuvers, including avionics, out-the-window imagery, target acquisition, navigation, and weapons control. Additional DGy units will be utilized in the Instructor's Operator Station (IOS) and the After Action Review (AAR) facility. Mission simulations will be simultaneously recorded while streamed to DGy units throughout the simulator and to the RGB Spectrum Multicast Video Server. Following the mission simulation, DGy codecs in the AAR room will be used to replay scenarios to provide a post flight assessment of pilots' performance.

The F-35 is the next generation strike fighter, bringing cutting-edge technologies to the battle space of the future. So back in the day Gaijin and the playerbase decided that air spawns for certain strike aircrafts were too OP so it was decided to remove air spawns for all aircrafts starting from rank 6 and above.

I understand that was necessary however, the game has changed tremendously since those days. Maps are much much bigger compared to the old days, teams are filled with decent/good speed fighters and even missiles are more prevalent. Some jets get missiles as early as rank 5.

I think giving all strike fighters and bombers at rank 6+ their airspawns back is a pretty bad idea, but certain ones should get it back. The list of strike fighters and bombers that I think should get their airspawns back are as follows:

With the fielding of every new fighter comes the promise of game-changing simulators (sims) that, unlike previous generations, can legitimately act as a replacement for flight time. When adding the real advances in computers and processing speeds witnessed over the past two decades, sims appear to hold even more promise.

Both the F-35A and its simulators require regular software and threat library updates in order to stay viable. However, even in the best of budget years, funding is tight and priorities have to be set for when those systems receive software updates. There are few who would rationally prioritize sims ahead of fielding updates in operational fighters, but what may be lost in that thought is just how much time separates the two, as well as the significance of that delay.

Modern-day fighters have exceptionally fast and capable computer processors that allow them to do much more than handle the computational requirements of basic fighter employment. Over the past 15 years, simulations have been developed and embedded within those processors that allow pilots to activate and engage with fully interactive live, virtual, constructive (LVC) simulations while in flight.REF 2351a5e196
