Stride: Run Tracker & Coach · Effective 1 September 2026
The short version
• Your runs, routes, profile and health data are stored on your device. We do not upload them to our servers.
• We use Google Firebase to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes.
• The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Personalised ads are only shown if you allow tracking.
• You can delete all of your data at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
1. Who we are
Stride ("the app", "we", "us") is developed by Varsha Patel. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at varsha1803patel@gmail.com.
2. Information stored on your device
Stride works on your device. The following information is created and kept locally, and is not sent to us:
• Account details: your name and email address, whether you type them in or share them through Sign in with Apple.
• Running profile: your goal, experience level, the days you want to run and your target distance.
• Runs and routes: the time, distance, pace, calories, elevation and GPS route of each activity you record.
• Settings: units, reminders, theme and other preferences.
If you remove the app or use Delete Account, this information is erased from your device.
3. Permissions we ask for
Location
Used to measure distance, pace and route while you record a run, including when the screen is locked so the run keeps recording. Location is not used when you are not recording, and is never shared with advertisers by us.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Stride saves your finished runs to Health and reads your workouts and fitness data to show your running history. Health data stays on your device. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never shared with third parties, and never stored in iCloud by us.
Motion & Fitness
Used to improve how accurately your activity is tracked, for example during indoor runs.
Photos
Used only to save run cards you choose to save. Stride can add photos but cannot see your photo library.
Notifications
Used for run reminders, training reminders and achievement alerts. These are scheduled on your device.
Tracking (App Tracking Transparency)
Used to show ads that are more relevant to you. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised using your device's advertising identifier.
You can change any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
4. Information collected by third-party services
Stride uses the following services. They receive limited technical information directly from the app, under their own privacy policies.
- Google Firebase Analytics
What it receives: App usage events (for example "run completed" with activity type, distance and duration, subscription events), device model, OS version, app version, country and an app instance identifier.
Why: To understand which features are used and improve the app.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics
What it receives: Crash reports and diagnostic logs, device model, OS version and app version.
Why: To find and fix crashes.
- Google Firebase Remote Config
What it receives: App instance identifier, app version and country.
Why: To change app settings without an update.
- Google AdMob
What it receives: IP address, device information, advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking) and interaction with ads.
Why: To show ads in the free version, measure them and prevent fraud.
- Apple
What it receives: Purchase and subscription information, handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Why: To process Stride Pro subscriptions.
Learn more: Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) · How Google uses information from apps that use its services (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites) · Apple Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
None of these services receive your GPS routes, your health data, your name or your email address from Stride.
5. Advertising and consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before ads are personalised, using Google's consent tool. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy options in the app. Subscribing to Stride Pro removes ads.
6. How we use information
• To provide the app's features, such as recording runs and building training plans.
• To fix bugs and crashes and improve performance.
• To understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
• To show ads in the free version.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Sharing
We share information only with the service providers listed above, or when required by law. When you share a run card, you choose where it goes; the first and last part of your route are hidden automatically so your start and finish points stay private.
8. Data retention and deletion
Data on your device stays until you delete it. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account to erase your runs, routes, profile, plan and settings. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay in Health until you delete them there. Analytics and crash data held by Google is kept according to Google's retention settings (up to 14 months for analytics and 90 days for crash reports). To ask us to delete it, email us.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict its use, or withdraw consent. Most of your data is on your device and in your control. For anything else, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will respond within 30 days.
10. Children
Stride is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
Your data is protected by your device's own security, including its passcode and encryption. Information sent to Google is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
