The 2023 Essay Contest Rules
To enter the 2023 Essay Contest, follow the directions below and write an essay on the following topic:
Civil Rights: Connections between the United States and Ireland.
Then, submit your essay by following the directions below.
Guidance to Students:
Research: Your writing should demonstrate serious research of Ireland and the United States’ history, traditions, culture, society, economy, trade relations, etc., as well as the close relationship between Ireland and the United States.
Originality: Your writing must be original and bring a fresh perspective to the audience. Consider sharing your individual or familial stories, or personal experiences, whether or not they happen to be Irish. Consider drawing comparisons between Ireland and the United States and your own native country.
Thoughtful Reflection: It is important that you give thoughtful reflection to the topic.
Essay Submission Instructions:
All essays must be submitted via email to: StPatricksDayEssay@Gmail.com
In your email, please include your name, school, class, email and telephone contact information.
The essay must be in English and must be the individual’s original work.
The essay must be at least 800 words but may not exceed 1,500 words.
Due Date: Extended until February 28, 2023
Eligibility: High school students attending grade nine through twelve of public, private, parochial, or home school in Georgia.
Prize: $1,000 check.
