The blueprints are a conceptualization of a video game that details the overall structure, mechanics, and details. My goal is that a developer would have enough information from the blueprint to proceed with actually building the game if they were interested!
Questing Cook is a game about the true heroes: the cooks who feed the adventurers! Scavenge food, prepare meals, and manage party resources with some strategic cookery!
Brainstormed in episodes 5, 6, and 7.
Here is Questing Cook's Blueprint along with the spreadsheet of values. Please reach out to storysmithingpodcast@gmail.com with questions or ideas.
How to Play Dungeon 53
Setup:
Begin with 53 cards (full deck and one joker).
Draw 9 cards.
1st card is the game’s modifier. This modifier affects all units on your team and the dungeon’s:
Clubs - +1 shield
Spades - +1 range
Hearts - +1 health
Diamonds - +1 damage
From the remaining 8 cards, choose 4 cards to be your heroes:
Clubs - Knights
Health: 4
Power:1
Spades - Archer
Health: 2
Power:1
Range 2
Hearts - Healer/Wizard
Health: 2
Power: 2
Diamonds - Wizard
Health: 2
Power: 2
The final four cards are your items. Depending on their suit, items give the following boost to a specific hero. Items can be swapped between battles:
Clubs - +1 shield
Spades - +1 range
Hearts - +1 health
Diamonds - +1 damage
Shuffle one joker into the final four cards at the bottom of the deck.
Gameplay:
Each battle consists of your four heroes vs. four enemies. You can arrange your cards in any sequence you want. Whichever card is in the fourth rank gains a bonus:
Knight: +1 shield
Healer: +1 Health
Archer: +1 Range
Mage: +1 Damage
If the enemy has a knight, it automatically goes in the first rank. All other enemy cards are placed in ranks 2-4 in the order they are drawn.
You attack with all your heroes first, then all enemy cards attack.
Use the damage, health, and range stats of the characters to complete the battle.
Characters must attack at their exact range. For example, the archer must attack the enemy in the 2nd rank, unless only the first rank enemy remains.
If any of your heroes are defeated, they begin the next battle with 1 health.
Continue in Battles 2-10 against sets of 4 enemies.
You lose one item after battles 3, 6, and 9.
Battle 11 is the boss battle. Your three missing items are returned to you. There will be five enemy cards left in the deck, which will include the joker card. The joker has stats of 3 health and 3 power. The final battle is your four heroes against the last five enemy cards. Good luck!
