Storm Boswick (full name: Sean Morgan Storm Boswick) has dedicated over thirty years to shaping his asset management, venture capital, and strategic advisory careers. As a seasoned professional, he has garnered expertise in public and private equity markets, private debt, and governance. His career reflects his remarkable ability to navigate complex investment landscapes and steer organizations toward success.
Storm's role as a governance professional has seen him contribute to numerous public and private company boards. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the UCLA Space Institute, where he is involved in the Technical and Finance Committees.
Throughout his extensive career, Storm has worked across various countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, France, the Netherlands, and the Caribbean. His insights and analyses have been featured in major financial media outlets, such as CNBC, Bloomberg, CNNfn, the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and Crain’s.
Beyond his professional commitments, Storm has also contributed to philanthropy, writing, and educational outreach, further establishing his diverse impact on global finance and governance.
Academic Pursuits and Early Interests
Storm's educational journey began at Ridley College in St. Catharines, Ontario, from 1984 to 1987. His academic path led him to Choate Rosemary Hall, where he transferred in 1986 to continue his studies before attending the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Storm earned his MA Honours degree in economic history and International Relations at St. Andrews between 1987 and 1991. Throughout his time at university, he demonstrated leadership, serving as the president of the International Politics Association and vice-captain of the varsity golf team. His academic pursuits were not limited to his coursework; he conducted additional research for his Master’s Dissertation at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, focusing on international economic dynamics.
Launching a Career in Finance
Storm began his professional career in 1994 as a financial analyst with Goldman Sachs in New York, where he worked in the investment research division. This role helped lay the foundation for his future success by deepening his understanding of global financial markets and investment strategies.
In 1996, Storm moved to J&W Seligman, a New York-based investment firm, where he rose quickly. He became the youngest partner in the firm’s history. He managed significant investments in the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sectors, overseeing portfolios valued in the tens of billions of dollars.
Storm continued to build his career at Sigma Capital, serving as a long/short portfolio manager from 2003 to 2005, specializing in TMT investments. His time at Sigma Capital allowed him to refine his investment strategies and broaden his expertise in managing complex portfolios.
2006 Storm took the entrepreneurial leap by founding Brompton Cross Capital, which focused on public and private technology investments. As the lead portfolio manager, he guided the firm through six years of growth, managing its assets and steering its financial strategies.
In 2012, Storm joined Brock Capital Group as Senior Managing Director, working on private debt portfolios in the U.S., UK, and Asia. He also advised firms like Medley Capital, Brightwood Capital, and MC Credit, helping them raise capital and provide strategic advisory services. Brock Capital Group is known for offering consulting services and capital-raising expertise through its broker-dealer affiliate, working with senior professionals from diverse sectors.
In 2021, Storm established his advisory firm, TRE Advisors, to support clients in the technology and industrial sectors, particularly in the Five Eyes countries and Israel. He specializes in public/private partnerships and dual-use technologies through this firm. He oversees TRE Ventures, an investment portfolio focused on venture capital, private equity, and debt.
Authorial Contributions and Publications
Storm is also an accomplished author. In 1991, he published Guide to the Universities of Europe, a comprehensive reference guide that helped students navigate the complexities of studying abroad. The book provided valuable information on admissions, visa requirements, tuition costs, and European student life. The guide earned the Choice Award in 1993 and was recognized as an Outstanding Library Reference.
While at Goldman Sachs, Storm co-authored the Publishing Review & Outlook and contributed to Cyberpublishing, the first internet industry report published on Wall Street.
Passion for Marine Conservation
In addition to his financial expertise, Storm has long advocated for ocean conservation. Since 2020, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center and the Proteus Ocean Group. His efforts have taken him to global conferences and events in Curaçao, Bonaire, Grand Cayman, Portugal, Madeira, the Azores, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Storm is also a certified scuba diver with NAUI and PADI credentials. He has worked with organizations like the Reef Restoration Foundation in Bonaire and Coral Gardener in Mo’orea, which are dedicated to coral reef restoration and preserving marine biodiversity. He participates in coral restoration efforts and research dives in the Channel Islands, Bonaire, Cuba, Grand Cayman, the Florida Keys, and the Azores.
Commitment to Education and Space Exploration
Storm is committed to advancing education, particularly in space exploration and technology. He is a lecturer and strategic advisor to the International Space University and the UCLA Space Institute. His speaking engagements have taken him to institutions such as the British Museum, Adler Planetarium, Tel Aviv University, Technion, the Israel Space Agency, Leiden University, the Technical University of Delft, and Rice University.
Golf and Other Interests
Storm Boswick has had a lifelong passion for golf, dating back to his time at the University of St. Andrews. As a St. Andrews Golf Club member, he competes in tournaments, winning events in Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada, the U.S., and Bermuda.
In addition to his golf career, Storm was a founding member of the Core Club in Manhattan and played a key role in launching and investing in LT Burger, a well-known restaurant in Sag Harbor.
