Stories & Stouts

Next meeting

Friday, June 11

Our next discussion will be held on Friday, June 11 at 6 pm at Highland Community Library. We'll be meeting outdoors, weather pending, but please bring a mask in case we have to move inside. No registration is required.

We expect our conversation to last at least an hour. BYOB!

Humor

This month, we are laughing out loud with stories by Shirley Jackson, Mark Twain, Margaret Atwood, & Philip K. Dick. You can read all the stories and find bios of the authors here.

ABOUT STORIES & STOUTS

Stories & Stouts is a short story discussion club hosted by Highland Community Library. Our library staff carefully selects short stories and essays by important writers. We post the stories or essays here for you to read every month for free, and on the third Friday of each month we'll meet at a local bar to discuss the stories over drinks, food, and good company. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently meeting at the library.

What We Read

Short stories and essays can give us glimpses into the minds of their authors. They inspire us, introduce us to new ideas and perspectives, and allow us to meaningfully learn about the world.

We read stories and essays by classic and contemporary authors, with a special focus on voices that might be new to us.

Where We Meet

We typically meet at The Alibi Restaurant & Lounge in Richland. Until further notice, we will be meeting at the library.
