St Mary's Catholic School

OTOROHANGA

Our Mission Statement :

"To Grow in Grace and Knowledge in Christ Jesus"

We base our school values around this statement - to be always seeking excellence, doing our very best in all we do, through our thoughts, words and actions as Christ Jesus.

Vision

Quality learning in a caring family environment where everyone is respected and valued.

St Mary’s is an integrated Catholic Primary School Years 1 - 8. The original school (now Annie’s Childcare Centre) was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of St Joseph.

The present school was built in 1985 and named after our Parish and Church, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In 1994 the school was renamed St Mary’s Catholic School.

Special Character

The special character of our school is central to all school activities. Staff and students are expected to reflect “Proud to be Catholic” through their actions, thoughts and words.

Within the small, and family-nature of the school community, St Mary's students learn to respect each other as individuals and their environment, be responsibility for their learning and of others, maintain a ‘can-do’ attitude and work together as a highly productive team.

The poise, confidence and achievement of St Mary's students when they move onto secondary school and beyond, is testimony to the ethics and skills they develop at St Mary's. We are very proud of what our school has to offer our students and community, and strive to continue with providing excellence in all areas.
