Growing in faith begins with the way life is lived every day. For young children to grow in faith, the family and its practices are crucial. Beginning in middle school and into high school, teens need to be addressed through their process of growing from adolescence into adulthood. Parents, single adults, and elders have their own needs, interests and concerns.
Providing a Catholic perspective for all these life circumstances is the challenge each parish faces; we offer intentional faith formation opportunities for everyone to continue to grow in faith.
St. Helena Religious Education (Kings in the Kingdom—preschool, Find God—elementary, EDGE—middle school and Purpose Confirmation—high school) partners with parents to assist them in fulfilling their responsibility to bring up their child in the Catholic faith by providing quality religious instruction and formation.
Faith formation does not begin and end with participation in religious education; parents are the “first” teachers of their children in the ways of our Catholic faith. If parent and child do not participate at Mass together, receive Sacraments together, pray daily together, review take-home lessons together---faith is not truly being passed on.
Our program follows the guidelines and directives of the National Directory for Catechesis (NDC) developed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Our catechists (volunteer instructors) are trained and formed through their participation in monthly formation gatherings and in the many formational opportunities offered through the Pastoral Ministry Office through the Archdiocese.
The Sacraments are visible signs of Christ's presence in our world, acting through the Church. They are an indivisible part of our Catholic faith experience. Come join us and celebrate God with us!!
