Welcome

Universal Remote Learning

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!

I am so glad we're here! These past months have been a challenge for all of us. But as I tell my scholars all the time,

"WE DON'T GROW WHEN THINGS ARE EASY. WE GROW WHEN WE FACE OUR CHALLENGES."

I'm excited about all this new year has in store for us. We will rise to this challenge with patience, kindness, and flexibility.

Good evening Wildcat family,

Parents, I need your help. It is critical that your student mute his or her microphone while on TEAMS. We have had some instances where inappropriate adult conversations have been heard by our students. This is not OK. Please help us ensure our students have a great learning environment by having your student mute their mic (unless they are speaking or testing) and blur or choose a different background in TEAMS.

I am attaching our PAWS student behavior expectations. Please go over it with your student.

ALL parents and students (ages 10 and above) must sign the Code of Conduct acknowledgement form. Once you have read the code of conduct and gone over it with your student, please sign off. Let’s show the district that our families are active and engaged. I have attached a flyer with a QR code that you can scan to get to the code of conduct and sign off link.

Week 3 and 4 packets can be picked up on Friday, August 28. We will have bins placed outside of the school, so families can turn in their work packets every two weeks. Remember this is only for PK-2nd grade students that do not have access to the internet.

All K-5 students will be taking the Fall iReady diagnostic some time between September 1 and September 18. Your student will have an opportunity to sign up for a small group testing time. Students should be in a quiet space with their camera and microphone on. Please see the attached flyer. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon with more details.

If you have not checked out your child’s supply bag, please call the school to schedule a time to pick up your bag. Please remember to take care of the materials enclosed because they must be returned to the school when we return. The last day for bag pick up is this Friday.

If you do not have internet access, we have limited hotspots available. Please call the school at 470-254-3460 if you need a hotspot.

I am attaching a flyer about videos on FCSTV, that your children can watch to supplement instruction that your teacher is providing. The videos can be seen on cable channel 24 and the internet.

I need your input on our Title I Parent Family Engagement Plan and our Title I compacts. Please see the attachment and share your feedback.

Reminders:

Meals are available at Creekside High school on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.

Some important things to remember. When your student is logging on, your child’s password is their birthday. For example, if your child’s birthday is February 1, 2010. The password would be 02012010. You must enter 2 digits for the month, 2 digits for the day, and 4 digits for the year. MMDDYYYY

Please watch the video to learn how to log into ClassLink to log in to TEAMS. How to get to TEAMS

Have a good evening!

Good evening Wildcat family,

Our first 2 days of school have been great. Ninety-five percent of our students have been engaging with their teachers these first 2 days. Fantastic job families and teachers!

Some important things to remember. When your student is logging on, your child’s password is their birthday. For example, if your child’s birthday is February 1, 2010. The password would be 02012010. You must enter 2 digits for the month, 2 digits for the day, and 4 digits for the year.

EC West teachers created supply bags for your students. These bags have school supplies, math manipulatives, and a binder with learning tools that your child will need to complete work at home. If you have not checked out your child’s bag, please pick it up on Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 PM. These bags are truly learning tools and your child really needs this resource. Please remember to take care of the materials enclosed because they must be returned to the school when we return.

We still have 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade devices that have not been picked up. Please come to the school to pick up your device anytime between 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. If you do not have internet access, we have limited hotspots available. Please call the school at 470-254-3460 if you are in need of a hotspot.

Meals are available at Creekside High school on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.

Remember the goals for this week:

  1. Log in to Infinite Campus and make sure all contact information is correct.

  2. Set up a learning space for your student.

  3. Connect with the teacher via email

  4. Log in to TEAMS

  5. Take a deep breath

There are going to be issues, but we are not going to give up. If things do not work out the first time, we are going to try, try, try again!

Have a great week!

August 11, 2020

Good evening Wildcat family,

OPEN HOUSE Open House is tomorrow, August 12. Please see the attached Open House schedule for times. You must give your child’s teacher your email address to join Open House. Welcome packs were mailed to all households and teachers have called all households they had not reached. If you have not made contact via email or phone with your child's teacher, please call the school. We can’t wait to “see” you tomorrow.

SUPPLY BAGS Next week, you will be able to pick up your child’s learning bag at school. The learning bag is filled with school supplies, math manipulatives, a binder with learning tools your child will use during live instruction with the teacher, books, an agenda book, and more. Please come by during your grade level time to check out your child’s bag. Remain in your car and we will bring it to you.

DEVICES Device pick up for 3rd grade students and 4th and 5th grade students that do not have a device started today and will continue on Wednesday and Thursday from 9-12 and 1-3 at EC West. You will pull up to the curb and stay in your car. Please do not park in a parking space. You must have a mask on in your car when a staff member approaches. The staff member will get your child’s information and check out the device to your child. Remember this is only for 3rd grade students and 4th and 5th grade students that did not get a device in the Spring.

Students that currently have a Fulton County device should turn on the computer, log on, and leave the computer on for 30 minutes every day. If you get errors, please call the FCS Hotline at 470-254-2300 so we can get your device repaired before August 17.

HOTSPOTS If you do not have internet access at home, you may request an internet hotspot from the Remote Learning Hotline if your family qualifies for free and reduced meals, are ESOL or homeless/foster. Please make this request with the hotline now. When you call the hotline please tell them your child goes to EC West. The hotline will schedule an appointment for you to pick up your hotspot from Banneker High School.

INFINITE CAMPUS All parents must have an Infinite Campus account. This is how you will view your child’s weekly grades and report card. I’ve attached directions if you haven’t accessed your account.

SCHOOL NUTRITION I have attached information from School Nutrition. Please make sure you complete the Free and Reduced lunch form online.

REGISTRATION Please encourage new families moving into the EC West school zone to register online, now. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten will also participate in Universal Remote Learning and parents should register for school.

PANDEMIC EBT I have attached information about the Pandemic EBT. Please read the attachment and apply if it applies to your family.
