This Privacy Policy explains how StepTracker (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) accesses, collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information when you use the App.
By downloading or using StepTracker, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please discontinue using and uninstall the App.
1. INFORMATION WE ACCESS OR COLLECT
1.1 Physical Activity and Step Information
StepTracker may request permission to access physical activity information or use your device’s motion and step-counting sensors.
This access is necessary to provide the App’s primary functions, including counting and displaying steps, calculating walking distance and estimated calories, presenting daily activity statistics and supporting background step counting where enabled by the user.
Step and activity information is generally processed and stored locally on your device. We do not use this information for medical diagnosis, medical treatment, insurance, credit or employment decisions.
StepTracker is intended as a general fitness and activity-tracking tool. It is not a medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice.
1.2 Automatically Collected Technical Information
The App and its third-party service providers may automatically collect limited technical information, including:
Device model and manufacturer;
Operating-system version;
App version;
Language and general regional settings;
IP address;
Advertising identifier or similar device identifiers;
App interactions and usage events;
Diagnostic information, crash reports and performance data;
Advertising impressions, clicks and related attribution information.
This information may be used to operate the App, diagnose technical problems, improve performance, prevent abuse, measure feature usage, display advertisements and comply with legal obligations.
1.3 Information You Provide Voluntarily
If you contact us for support, we may receive your email address, the contents of your message, screenshots, diagnostic information and any other information you choose to provide.
Please do not send sensitive personal information that is not necessary for resolving your support request.
1.4 Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
StepTracker does not intentionally collect your contacts, text messages, call history, photographs, videos, microphone recordings, precise location, financial information, passwords or government identification documents.
If a future App feature requires access to additional information, we will provide appropriate notice and request permission where required.
2. PERMISSIONS USED BY THE APP
Physical Activity Permission
This permission allows the App to detect and count steps and provide activity-tracking features.
Notification Permission
This permission may be used to display step-counting status, progress notifications, reminders or other service-related messages.
Foreground Service Permission
This permission may be used to keep step-counting functionality active while the App is running in the background. A persistent notification may be displayed while the foreground service is operating.
Internet and Network Access
Internet access may be used to display advertisements, receive configuration information, obtain App updates, process analytics, submit crash reports and provide online features.
You may manage certain permissions through your device settings. Disabling a required permission may prevent some App features from working correctly.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We may use information to provide and maintain step-counting and activity-tracking functions; display activity statistics and progress; operate and improve the App; understand how users interact with the App; identify and correct crashes, errors and performance issues; display and measure advertisements where permitted; prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents; respond to support requests; comply with applicable laws; and enforce our legal rights.
We do not use physical activity or step information for targeted advertising.
4. ADVERTISING AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
StepTracker may use third-party service providers for advertising, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring and other operational purposes.
These providers may collect or process information such as your IP address, advertising identifier, device information, approximate location derived from your IP address, App interactions, advertising data, diagnostic information and crash logs under their own privacy policies.

Google AdMob may display advertisements and collect information needed to provide, personalize, limit and measure advertisements.

The third-party services actually used may vary depending on the App version and the user’s region. Third-party providers process information according to their respective terms and privacy policies.
Where required by applicable law, the App will request consent before using advertising identifiers or providing personalized advertising.
You may be able to manage your advertising preferences through the consent options displayed in the App, your Google account or your Android device settings.
5. HOW INFORMATION IS SHARED
We do not sell users’ personal information.
Information may be shared with service providers that help us operate, analyze, secure, advertise or improve the App.
Information may also be disclosed when necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents or violations of applicable terms; when required by law, regulation, legal process or a valid governmental request; to protect the rights, safety and property of users, the public or the App; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or transfer of the App, subject to appropriate privacy protections.
6. DATA STORAGE, SECURITY AND RETENTION
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss or misuse.
Where information is transmitted between the App and online services, we use secure network connections, such as HTTPS, where applicable. However, no electronic transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Step and activity history stored locally remains on your device until you delete it through the App, clear the App’s storage or uninstall the App.
Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.
Analytics, advertising and diagnostic information may be retained by third-party service providers according to their respective retention policies.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.
7. DATA DELETION AND USER CHOICES
StepTracker does not require users to create an account.
You can generally delete locally stored App data by using any available reset or delete option within the App, clearing StepTracker’s storage through your Android device settings or uninstalling the App.
Uninstalling the App normally removes information stored locally by the App. It may not delete information previously processed by third-party service providers under their respective retention policies.

To protect user privacy, we may need to verify a request before processing it.
Because the App does not require an account and we may not be able to associate technical or anonymized information with a specific individual, some deletion requests may not be technically possible without sufficient identifying details.
8. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
StepTracker is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13 or the minimum age required by applicable law in the user’s country.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without legally required consent.

12. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s functions, data practices, third-party services or legal requirements change.
When changes are made, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.
Material changes may also be communicated through the App or by other appropriate means.
Your continued use of StepTracker after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the updated Privacy Policy where permitted by law.
