StepQuest ("the app", "we", "us") is a step counter and walking app for iPhone, Apple Watch and widgets. This policy explains what information the app uses and how. In short: your data stays on your device. We don't collect it, store it on servers, sell it, or share it.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
StepQuest has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not run our own servers, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts or advertising identifier. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
2. Information the App Uses on Your Device
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission, StepQuest reads the following from Apple Health:
- Steps
- Walking and running distance
- Active energy and resting energy
- Flights climbed
- Heart rate (during workouts)
- Height (used to estimate stride and distance)
- Workouts and workout routes
With your permission, StepQuest also writes the wHealth as workouts, along with their routes if you recorded one.
We use health data only to show your progress, goals, streaks, history, insights and workouts. Health data is never used for
advertising or marketing. It is never sold, nevers, and never stored in iCloud by StepQuest.
Motion & Fitness (Core Motion)
Used to count your steps and distance live during
Location
Used only during a workout, and only when you turap your path. Location is accessed only while theapp is in use. It is never used in the background for tracking, and it is never shared.
Notifications
If you allow them, StepQuest sends local reminders and goal milestone alerts. These are scheduled on your device. No push server is involved.
App Preferences
Your settings, goals and app state (for example, your step goal) are stored locally on yourdevice. They are shared only between StepQuest's own iPhone app, Apple Watch app and widgets, using an App Group and WatchConnectivity.
3. In-App Purchases
StepQuest Premium is sold through Apple's App Stoles all payments. We never receive your paymentdetails, and we only see whether your purchase is active. Apple's Privacy Policy covers purchases: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
4. Data Sharing
We share no data with anyone. If you choose Exporest creates a JSON file, and you decide where tosend it using the iOS share sheet. After that, how the file is handled depends on the destination you picked.
5. Your Control Over Your Data
- Permissions: You can change Health, Location, Motion and Notification access at any time in iOS Settings, or in the Health
app → Sharing → Apps → StepQuest.
- Delete data: Go to More → Privacy → Delete App Data to remove StepQuest's stored data from your device. Deleting the app
also removes it. Data that StepQuest saved to Aand you can manage it in the Health app.
- Export: You can export your app data at any time from More → Privacy.
6. Data Security
All data is stored on your device and protected by iOS security, including device encoding and Health data protection.
