The Five Pillars of Holistic Health

Lately, I have been talking so much on our social media about the 5 Pillars of SOMM Wellness, so I wanted to take the time to thoroughly explain them to you.

Elements such as a meaningful spiritual practice, an inspiring career, regular and enjoyable physical activity, nourishing nutrition, and honest and open relationships that feed your soul and your hunger for living all constitute the 5 pillars.

The Five Pillars of SOMM Wellness, therefore, are (in no particular order)

  1. Spirituality

  2. Relationships

  3. Career

  4. Nutrition

  5. Physical Activity

We look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship(s) cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, as well as spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these are balanced, what you eat becomes a part of the whole of your overall wellness.

SOMM Wellness helps you to define what you value most from your well-being. Then use these visions to motivate specific goals that bring you closer to where you want to be. There is no dictated diet plan, but we do encourage and can help you explore why some foods make you feel better than others and how to strategically use that feedback.
