In 2014, Nathan Little was selected as a Fellow for the Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship program, and placed in California State Assemblymember Bill Dodd’s office during his inaugural term. As a Fellow, Nathan held a portfolio of responsibilities covering all aspects of the legislative process: the research, negotiation and staffing of legislation.
In 2017, Nathan joined the office of Assemblymember Bill Quirk as a Senior Legislative Assistant. Nathan built a focus on Natural Resource issues, with an emphasis on forestry. Following Nathan’s research, Dr. Quirk introduced legislation on prescribed burn manpower and equipment templates and pollutant emissions from catastrophic wildfires. Policy informed by Nathan’s work on wildfire pollutant emissions went on to become a part of SB901 (2017), by then-Senator Dodd’s massive wildfire and forest reform bill.
He most recently worked as a Grant Administrator in the California Natural Resources Agency, where he was responsible for a portfolio of 33 grants across several programs, and oversaw the payment of more than $17 million in state funds.
Additionally, Nathan is a Specialist with the California State Guard, where he serves as a wildland firefighter with the California Military Department’s Taskforce Rattlesnake. He fought on the fireline with a Type I crew during the 2024 Park Fire, and assisted with administration and logistic responsibilities during the 2025 Los Angeles fires.
