Objects in Conversation is an installation made up of disposable readymade materials and imitative handmade artworks. The objects are assembled on found wood constructions. Shelves are placed at eye level to suggest a consumerist environment and evoke human desire. This work references the characteristics of mass-produced objects through the process of mould-making, painting, and assemblage. A sense of geometry and theory of colour, add dimension to the space. Techniques of advertising are applied to redirect value to the handmade and elicit an impulse to buy. The work acknowledges the disconnection between natural systems and the general economy. The fragility of the buff-stone and the structure of the refined plastic objects, display detachment as they endeavor to unite. Objects in Conversation encourages playfulness through the recontextualization of the ordinary. This allows physiological space to stimulate conversation around consumerism within our own domesticities.
