Samsung Might Launch One UI 8.5 Beta Sooner Than Expected

Samsung is currently in the testing phase for its upcoming software update, One UI 8.5, and numerous leaks have surfaced regarding its new features. The final version of this software is anticipated to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year, but an open beta program may also be on the horizon.

Possible One UI 8.5 Beta Release in November

Reports suggest that Samsung could roll out a One UI 8.5 beta as early as next month. According to SamMobile, the launch might occur during the week of November 24, the last week of November.

This would indicate that Samsung has adapted its approach since the launch of One UI 7. Last year, the beta program for One UI 7 began in December, just weeks before the unveiling of the Galaxy S25 series, leading to a lengthy wait for the stable version, which didn’t arrive until April 2025.

In response, Samsung has revised its internal processes, resulting in a more timely launch for One UI 8. The Android 16-based software was introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the end of July, with updates for older devices starting in September.

Quick Updates for Older Devices?

While Samsung has not officially confirmed details about the update, it’s reasonable to expect that all devices running One UI 8 will receive One UI 8.5, as both versions are built on Android 16. The company’s flagship smartphones for 2025 will likely be the first to access both the beta and the final release.

However, users of older models may face delays. The One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S24 series was launched months after Galaxy S25 users gained access. If Samsung follows a similar timeline for the upcoming beta, access may be limited.

In comparison, Apple has been performing better with its beta testing and stable release processes. Following the announcement of iOS 26, Apple quickly launched a developer beta and followed up with a public beta, allowing iPhone 16 owners and users of all devices compatible with the software, dating back to the 2019 iPhone 11, to join.
