Pixel 10 Announcement Date Officially Set, Slightly Later Than Last Year
Updated: Jul 16, 2025, 12:20 PM
Google has officially announced the date for its upcoming event, where the Pixel 10 series and Pixel Watch 4 are expected to be unveiled. The event will take place on August 20, a bit later than last year’s Pixel 9 announcement, which was on August 13. This timing puts Google’s event close to the anticipated launch of the iPhone 17, expected during the week of September 8.
Reports suggest that the release date for the new devices is set for August 28.
During the event, Google is anticipated to announce three standard models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, along with a foldable device named the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the Pixel Watch 4. Like previous Pixel generations, the new phones will be powered by Google’s custom Tensor chip. The notable update is that the Tensor G5 will be produced by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), a partner for Qualcomm and Apple, rather than Samsung Foundry, although a Samsung modem may still be included.
Visually, the Pixel 10 devices are expected to resemble their predecessors. The Pro models will retain the same camera hardware as last year, while the base model is likely to add a third sensor and feature new primary and ultrawide cameras. Other updates will be minimal.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to be the first dust-proof foldable phone, featuring a larger outer display, enhanced battery capacity, and an upgraded main camera.
All devices will run on Android 16, and Google is expected to introduce new AI capabilities during the presentation. Pricing for the new phones is expected to remain consistent with the current lineup, which is good news for those considering the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, especially since Samsung recently increased the price of the Fold 7.
The Pixel Watch 4 is set to feature the same Snapdragon W5 chip as its predecessors but is likely to include a larger battery and faster charging capabilities.
While Google’s Pixel phones still account for a small percentage of global smartphone sales, their market share has been steadily increasing. Google is no longer hesitant to compete in the premium segment, as evidenced by its pricing strategy and the timing of its event.
