Are you feeling let down by the news that Samsung’s upcoming foldable flagship devices might be priced significantly higher than last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6? The key word here is "might," as a new, reliable source is painting a different picture regarding the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Roland Quandt from WinFuture claims to have obtained his information from trustworthy European retailers known for accuracy in this area. While nothing is confirmed until Samsung's official announcement on July 9, I'm cautiously optimistic about the potential affordability of the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7, and even the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra (2025).
The newly rumored prices are quite favorable:
€1,099 - Galaxy Z Flip 7 (256GB)
€1,219 - Galaxy Z Flip 7 (512GB)
€1,999 - Galaxy Z Fold 7 (256GB)
€2,119 - Galaxy Z Fold 7 (512GB)
€2,359 - Galaxy Z Fold 7 (1TB)
While €1,099 translates to about $1,275, this isn’t necessarily the expected price for the base model in the US. For reference, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 launched at €1,199 in Europe but started at $1,099 in the US. This means the Z Flip 7 could potentially be offered for as low as $1,049 or even $999 at launch, making it an incredible value considering its significant upgrades, like a 6.85-inch main display and a 4-inch secondary screen. Part of this price reduction might be due to the use of a Samsung-made Exynos 2500 processor instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite expected for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The Z Fold 7 is likely to maintain the pricing structure of its predecessor in markets like Germany, which makes sense. Despite expected upgrades and enhancements, Samsung cannot keep raising prices without risking customer dissatisfaction, especially with a tri-fold model on the horizon. Therefore, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will likely start at the same $1,899 as the Z Fold 6 in the US, which, while not cheap, seems reasonable for what might be the best foldable device available by late 2025.
On the smartwatch front, it appears that the standard Galaxy Watch 8 could see a price increase of about €40-50 compared to last year’s Galaxy Watch 7 in both the 40mm and 44mm sizes. This suggests the starting price in the US could rise from $299 to $349. However, this increase raises hopes that Samsung will include improved internals and perhaps enhanced battery life.
The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is rumored to be priced at €499 in Germany for a single 47mm model, which is a slight increase from the €449 charged for the previous Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. In the US, this could mean a price of around $500.
Lastly, the second-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra, expected to be branded as the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, is reportedly set to keep the €699 price point of its predecessor, likely maintaining the $650 MSRP in the US. This pricing could allow Samsung to compete effectively against the Apple Watch Ultra lineup.
