Motorola Razr Plus (2025) Set to Deliver True Flagship Performance with a Surprising Chipset

Motorola is preparing to unveil its next clamshell foldable phone in the Razr series. Unlike previous years when new Razr models were introduced in June, recent certification indicates an earlier announcement for the Razr Plus (2025), possibly in March or April. Additionally, there may be an exciting surprise in store.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Inside?

The upcoming Razr Plus (2025), known as the Razr Ultra 60 outside the US, has appeared on Geekbench, suggesting that Motorola plans to equip it with Qualcomm's latest and most powerful chipset.

The Geekbench listing shows that the Razr Plus (2025) will feature an octa-core Qualcomm chipset, comprising six cores clocked at 3.53GHz and two cores at 4.32GHz. The source code also reveals the inclusion of the Adreno 830 GPU. These details point to Motorola utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for this device.

The Razr Plus (2025) is expected to offer up to 12GB of RAM and will launch with Android 15, potentially introducing several new AI-driven features. Initially, it was believed that the device would come with the Snapdragon 8s Elite, an underclocked version of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite, given that the current model uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. However, it appears that Motorola has decided to fully embrace flagship performance for the Razr Plus (2025).

Many of the latest flagship smartphones, such as the Galaxy S25, OnePlus 13, and the newly launched Zenfone 12 Ultra, are powered by Qualcomm's latest chipset. With the same powerhouse under the hood, the Motorola Razr Plus (2025) is set to elevate its performance.

In fact, this new chipset may give it an advantage over its main competitor, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is expected to feature Samsung’s Exynos 2500 for now.

Design and Display Expectations

Beyond the chipset, details about the Motorola Razr Plus (2025) are limited, as leaks have been few. However, it’s likely that Motorola will maintain its signature design language, resulting in another sleek and stylish clamshell foldable available in various colors, featuring that distinctive soft vegan leather finish on the back.

As for the display, it is projected to retain the 6.9-inch main inner screen, potentially achieving brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits. The refresh rate is expected to remain at 165Hz, providing an even smoother experience compared to the standard 120Hz found on most other smartphones.
