Latest Rumored Battery Specs and IP Ratings for the 2025 Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Models

Several high-profile smartphones are set to hit the U.S. market in the coming months. Let’s begin with the foldable trio: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Believe it or not, Samsung will unveil these latest foldable models next Wednesday, July 9. According to reliable leaker Steve H. McFly, pre-orders will start the same day at 3 PM EDT, with shipping expected to begin on July 25.
On Wednesday, in addition to the three foldables, we also anticipate Samsung introducing its new smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
A recent report indicates that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (Fan Edition) will carry an Ingress Protection rating of IP48. This matches the IP rating of last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6, suggesting that Samsung has not yet managed to make these devices completely dustproof. The report also states that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have the same IP48 rating as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Thus, all three of Samsung’s new foldables will feature IP48 ratings.
What does this mean? Let me explain. The IP48 rating is divided into two components: the "4" indicates protection against dust ingress, meaning the phones are safeguarded against solid objects larger than 1mm, but not fine dust. The "8" for water protection means that the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, and Galaxy Z Fold 7 can be submerged in fresh water to a depth of 1.5 meters (nearly 5 feet) for a maximum of 30 minutes without damage.
According to a tweet from Steve H. McFly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have a rated battery capacity of 4272 mAh, matching last year’s model and providing up to 40 hours and 28 minutes of usage between charges. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature a rated capacity of 4174 mAh, offering up to 42 hours and 4 minutes of battery life. The Galaxy Z Flip FE will sport a rated capacity of 3887 mAh, with a maximum usage time of 37 hours.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3, 4, 5, and 6 have been the best-selling foldable models over the past four years. However, this year, the clamshell design faces competition from the upgraded Razr Ultra from Motorola.
After Samsung’s new foldables are released, Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 10 line on August 28. The following month, we should see the launch of the iPhone 17 series, including the new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air.
