Kind Koala was founded in August 2023 by Adam Kadan in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. What started as one local initiative has grown into an international nonprofit with one clear mission: to connect individuals and families with free or reduced-cost healthcare through a structured student network and generous medical professionals.
In under a year, Kind Koala has expanded to over 35 active chapters and built a team of more than 250 officers. we have provided over $30,000 worth of healthcare services and resources to people who otherwise could not afford them. These services range across many healthcare fields.
Individuals who need care, but face financial barriers to accessing it, apply to our program. From there, we match applicants with verified volunteer healthcare providers who are willing to donate their services. These doctors and professionals receive a tax write-off for their time and are featured on our social media and website as trusted community partners.
Each chapter is entirely student-led. A chapter president oversees a team that handles outreach, recruitment, communications, and case coordination. Students work together to connect with local doctors, spread awareness, and guide applicants through the process. Our chapters operate in schools, colleges, and communities across the United States and internationally.
In addition to providing care, Kind Koala also runs the Koala Box Initiative, which has delivered over 3,000 hygiene and essential care items to families in need. These boxes include items like toothbrushes, soap, clothing, and first-aid supplies. They are distributed by our chapters directly to shelters, clinics, and individual households.
While our headquarters remain in Bucks County, our work has already gone international. With chapters launching in new cities and countries each month, our impact is growing faster than ever. We continue to train new chapter leaders and build relationships with providers across the world.
We are always looking to expand our network. If you are a medical provider who would like to donate care, we will ensure that you receive full tax documentation and are listed on all of our public platforms. If you are someone in need of care or want to start a chapter at your school, you can apply today at https://www.kindkoala.org
Kind Koala’s growth would not be possible without our community. Every dollar donated, every hour volunteered, and every service offered has helped someone in
need. We are thankful for the hundreds of students, doctors, and supporters who have made this vision a reality. Together, we are showing what happens when students act and communities come together for a cause that matters.
