No Data Uploads: Your audio files, recorded videos, performance clips, and voice tracks are processed locally and are never uploaded to any server or cloud storage.
No User Accounts: You do not need to create an account, register, or provide personal details to use Stem Studio.
2. Device Permissions & Why We Need Them
To deliver the application's core functionality, Stem Studio requests specific Android permissions. Below is a breakdown of why each permission is required:
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE:
Used exclusively during the first application launch to download the necessary local AI machine learning models required for audio splitting. Once the model is downloaded, internet connectivity is not required for processing audio files.
CAMERA:
Required to allow users to record live performance videos while playing alongside their customized stem tracks.
RECORD_AUDIO:
Required to capture audio via your device's microphone while recording performance videos over audio mixes.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROCESSING:
Required to allow the app to process high-resolution audio files and isolate stems uninterrupted in the background without being closed by the system.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC:
Used to ensure smooth status syncing for background file processing and exporting.
WAKE_LOCK:
Prevents the CPU/device screen from going to sleep while long media processing jobs (AI stem separation or video exporting) are actively running.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS:
Required on supported Android versions to show real-time progress notifications when processing or exporting long audio/video files in the background.
3. Data Collection and Use of Personal Information
We do not collect, store, share, or sell any personal data, including your name, email address, IP address, device IDs, or audio/video recordings. All media created or imported remains strictly under your control in your device's storage.
