The session begins with a brief description of student discourse and then moves into ways and examples of how to increase discourse while teaching virtually. Since this is a partnership with AzTEA and AATM, our focus will be on mathematics strategies and ways to increase discourse in the virtual classroom. Jaclyn Wood serves as the STEM Collaborative Representative for AATM and currently holds the position of the Mathematics Curriculum Specialist in the Florence Unified School District. She also has a Fellowship with Great Minds, Eureka Math. Jaclyn just completed her 14th year in education with 10 years focusing on mathematics instruction as an elementary school teacher and 4 years in a coaching position.
Jaclyn's focus is offering ongoing mathematics support to the K-8 teachers in her district through ongoing professional development, collaborative planning, and performance-based coaching. She is eager to collaborate with Arizona's educators and offer our students high-quality learning opportunities through virtual platforms.

Technology Integration Specialist, Maricopa Unified School District
Emily Maxwell is a member of the AzTEA Professional Learning Committee and is currently the Technology Integration Specialist for the Maricopa Unified School District . She has been an educator for 11 years, starting her career at a charter school. She has taught 5th-8th, and enjoyed teaching middle school science the most. She holds a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from University of Phoenix.
She also has experience with technology integration as she is earning her doctorate through Grand Canyon University. Her dissertation topic revolves around technostress and teachers. Her current role as Technology Integration Specialist and relevant research has put her in a position to support and encourage healthy technology use while allowing teachers to be excited about incorporating more technology.
