The session begins with a brief description of why collaboration is an essential key in improving student outcomes and then moves into ways and examples of how to collaborate effectively. Topics include Padlet, Actively Learn, FlipGrid, and Perusall. Viewers will gain an understanding of how these four eLearning platforms can be used to promote critical thinking and discourse delivered online through a computer or other digital device. Library Media Technician @ Desert Vista High School
Erica has been on the AZTEA Board since 2016 and is currently serving on the Professional Learning committee working on conferences and events related to EdTech and AZTEA's latest offering, esports.
She works at Desert Vista High School in the Tempe Union High School District where she was formerly an Instructional Technology Trainer and is currently a Library Media Technician. She has also been a Content Developer, EdTech and Curriculum Specialist, and classroom teacher at ASU Preparatory Academy.
Erica holds an Arizona Teaching certificate in Secondary History and hopes to complete her Library endorsement soon. She holds Bachelor's Degrees in History and Journalism from Northern Arizona University, Master of Education Degrees in Educational Technology and Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, and a Master of Arts in History from Arizona State University. She will also begin her PhD in History at ASU in the Fall 2020 semester.
Erica grew up in San Diego, CA before attending college at NAU. Following graduation from her undergraduate programs, she moved to the Phoenix area and has been here ever since. She currently lives in Ahwatukee with her husband. In her free time she enjoys biking, yoga, and other fitness activities as well as playing League of Legends with friends and of course, binge-watching (she is currently rewatching both Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars: The Clone Wars).
ASTA Region VI Director, Finance and Awards Committee
5th Grade Educator @ Winifred Harelson Elementary
Robyn Yewell is proud to serve as the ASTA Region VI (Pima County) Director. She is a 5th grade educator at Winifred Harelson Elementary in the Amphitheater School District in Tucson, Arizona. In addition to two masters degrees from NAU (Elementary and Bilingual/Multicultural Education), she holds an Elementary Education (K-8) certification with PreK-12 Gifted, 5-9 Middle Grades, and K-8 Mathematics Specialist Endorsements, as well as, a Specialized STEM 6-12 certificate, with a Middle Grades/Early Secondary Mathematics approved area. She also earned an Academic Certificate in K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from Rio Salado Community College. Robyn will begin working toward a Master of Arts in Science Teaching at NAU in the Fall 2020 semester.
Robyn places tremendous value on education and strives to learn something new everyday. This value is fundamental in her classroom and her students are challenged to do the same.
In 2017, Robyn was awarded Arizona Elementary Science Teacher of the Year by ASTA. She has served as a mentor for the StemAZing Program through the Pima County Superintendent's Office and has been a member of 100kin10’s teacher forum since 2019. She is also a member of the 2019-2020 University of Arizona Office of Economic Education Ambassador Cohort, in partnership with the Thomas R. Brown Foundation, which facilitates economic education in Southern Arizona. In her free time Robyn loves spending time with her family, reading, and being outdoors.
