Hi! My name is Stefanos Georgiadis and I am from Athens, Greece.
I am an applied mathematician with a background in the modeling and analysis of fluid systems using nonlinear partial differential equations. My research spans both theoretical and computational approaches to understand complex dynamics in fluids and environmental systems.
Before my current position, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher (Assegnista di Ricerca) at Università degli Studi dell'Aquila, in the group of Stefano Spirito, where I worked on theoretical analysis of compressible fluid systems.
I completed my PhD in a co-tutelle program between KAUST and TU Wien, under the supervision of Ansgar Jüngel and Thanos Tzavaras, where my work focused on the thermodynamic consistency and rigorous mathematical analysis of systems of multicomponent gases.
I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate at NYU Abu Dhabi, in the group of Francesco Paparella, transitioning into a more applied role with a focus on computational modeling for oceanic and atmospheric sciences. My upcoming projects will explore fluid dynamics in environmental contexts, including plankton and coral ecosystems and geophysical fluid dynamics. While the specific projects are still being defined, I am excited to apply my background in nonlinear PDEs and fluid systems to real-world environmental challenges!
Outside of research, I create short, accessible videos explaining concepts in mathematics and physics, which I share on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, under the name The Curious Bit. I also enjoy experimenting with machine learning on publicly available datasets, exploring data analysis and visualization through mini-projects.
