My name is Stefan Trandafir, and I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at Universidad de Sevilla, working under the supervision of Adán Cabello.
Previously, I did my PhD with Marni Mishna, my MSc with Petr Lisoněk, both at Simon Fraser University, and my BMath in Combinatorics & Optimization at University of Waterloo.
My main areas of research are in Combinatorics and Quantum Computation.
I enjoy studying problems that are easy to state but that require significant effort to solve, and involve connections between apparently disparate fields.
Some things I have studied or am studying:
Kochen-Specker sets,
Magic sets (contextual sets of Pauli observables),
Vector partition functions,
Littlewood-Richardson and Kronecker coefficients,
Parking functions and Cayley trees,
A variant of Buratti's conjecture.
Apart from math, I enjoy playing chess (FIDE rating 2027), soccer, guitar, and running.
I also enjoy spending time with my family & friends, and travelling when I get the chance.
