SteamPresence Privacy Policy

SteamPresence is a browser extension that adds profile, friend, reputation, and inventory tools to Steam Community pages.

Information SteamPresence handles

SteamPresence may read information already available on Steam Community pages opened by the user when that information is required for a visible extension feature.

This may include Steam profile names, SteamID64 identifiers, account information, friend information, inventory item information, Steam Market information, and relevant Steam Community page content.

SteamPresence also allows users to create private custom nicknames, private notes, favorite-friend selections, extension settings, and inventory preferences. These values are stored locally in browser extension storage.

Steam authentication and SteamPresence sessions

For certain Steam features, SteamPresence may temporarily use Steam-issued access or session information made available by the user's active Steam Community session. For example, this may be used to request friendship dates from Steam or perform a friend-removal action after the user explicitly requests and confirms it.

SteamPresence does not store Steam passwords, Steam session cookies, or Steam access tokens on SteamPresence-operated servers. This information is sent only to Steam/Valve endpoints required for the requested feature.

SteamPresence also supports sign-in through Steam OpenID for features such as reputation. After successful Steam authentication, SteamPresence creates its own session token. The server stores only a cryptographic hash of that token together with the associated SteamID64 and session expiration information.

Reputation data

When a user gives reputation to another Steam user, SteamPresence stores the SteamID64 of the user giving the reputation, the SteamID64 of the receiving user, the reputation category, and the time the reputation was created.

This information is required to prevent duplicate votes, enforce reputation limits and cooldowns, display reputation totals, and support future reputation history features.

SteamPresence does not require users to be Steam friends in order to give reputation.

Inventory prices and currency data

SteamPresence may send item identifiers such as AppID, market hash name, selected currency, and country code to SteamPresence-operated servers in order to provide inventory price estimates.

SteamPresence maintains a shared server-side cache of Steam Market prices and currency conversion data. SteamID64 is not required for normal inventory price requests.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide, operate, secure, or improve SteamPresence features.

SteamPresence does not use user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, credit decisions, or unrelated profiling.

Sharing and transmission

Private custom nicknames, private notes, favorite-friend selections, and local settings are not transmitted to SteamPresence-operated servers.

Steam-issued authentication or session information used for Steam features is transmitted only to Steam/Valve services over HTTPS and is not stored by SteamPresence-operated servers.

SteamPresence may transmit the limited data required for server-backed features such as reputation, SteamPresence authentication, inventory pricing, and currency conversion.

SteamPresence does not sell user data and does not use third-party advertising or analytics services.

Local storage, backup and deletion

SteamPresence stores settings, private custom nicknames, private notes, favorite-friend selections, inventory preferences, and SteamPresence session information in browser extension storage.

The extension includes local export and import features. An exported backup file is created only when the user explicitly chooses to export their data.

Removing the extension or clearing extension storage removes locally stored SteamPresence data.

Server-side reputation records and authentication-session records are stored separately from local browser data.

Browsing scope

SteamPresence does not monitor general browsing activity.

Its packaged scripts are limited to the Steam Community pages required for SteamPresence features, including profile, friends, and inventory pages declared by the extension.

Limited Use

SteamPresence's handling of user data is limited to providing, securing, or improving its single purpose: adding useful profile, friend, reputation, and inventory tools to Steam Community pages.

User data is not sold, used for personalized advertising, or transferred for unrelated purposes.

Changes to this policy

If a future SteamPresence version introduces materially different data practices, this policy will be updated before those practices are introduced to users.
