If you're emulating on your deck, chances are you are gonna want to use the Steam Rom Manager. It's a one-time set up to automatically import all your emulated games to steam along with custom artwork from Steam Grid Database. It will put all of them in categories on steam based on their system (if you want). It'll also make it so you are shown as playing the game itself instead of the emulator to your steam friends, and, most importantly IMO, you can customize the control bindings for each game. Here's a screen grab of the finished product in my library on Deck.

3- In the "Steam Category" field it will automatically suggest a steam collection to put it in by the system title. You can add more or change this, and these can be changed manually from within the Steam UI later.

Want to play some old or new emulator games on your couch? Adding them to steam gives you access to the steam overlay, excellent controller management, and even in home and remote streaming. Adding your emulator games manually is a huge pain, but fear not! Introducing Steam ROM Manager, the bulk game importer and artwork manager for Steam!

First of all, if I have bought FM24 through steam and I have installed it on my laptop, will I be able to log in to my steam account on the Steam Deck as well? Or I need to have 2 separate accounts and buy two games to be able to play on those two devices alternately?

Plus even with the steam deck you can dock or use Sunshine to stream to any device running Moonlight. You can easily stream to an ipad or android tablet using Sunshine/Moonlight for a much bigger screenI recommend buying a Rii i4 it is a controller. trackpad ,scroll wheel. keyboard hybrid. Absolutely amazing for FM.You can also buy ShadowCast 2 which allows you to use any device with a screen as an external display. So you can plug an ipad or tablet into the adapter which plugs into the deck and you can use it as a screen.

I have been playing FM 24 on the steamdeck and had no issues. I play it on my desktop too using the cloud save. Works great. Just make sure you give steam time to upload/download the save before and after playing.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is that Steam cloud has a save size limit (around 800Mb if I remember correctly), which I didn't know about before. My original idea was to switch my saves between my laptop and steam deck, but if my fresh new save already weights 400Mb and it will surely grow to exceed the 800Mb limit very soon, that might be not possible. In this case, I think I will just keep saving locally, meaning I will have a laptop save, and a separate steam deck save. Not game breaking for me as I tend to have multiple saves anyway, but still.

Steam ROM Manager is a super flexible tool for adding non-Steam games to steam in bulk and managing their artwork assets. Added games could be ROMs for emulators, games from other stores such as Epic or GOG, or even not games at all. Have you always wanted your notes from junior year as a category in steam? If so that's pretty weird! But now it's possible.

Enable the multilib repository and install the steam (recommended) or alternatively the steam-native-runtime package for running Steam with native system libraries. See /Troubleshooting#Steam runtime.

The default Steam install location is ~/.local/share/Steam. If Steam cannot find it, it will prompt you to reinstall it or select the new location. This article uses the ~/.steam/root symlink to refer to the install location.

Steam installs games into a directory under LIBRARY/steamapps/common/. LIBRARY normally is ~/.steam/root but you can also have multiple library folders (Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders).

In order for Steam to recognize a game it needs to have anappmanifest_AppId.acf file in LIBRARY/steamapps/. The appmanifest file uses the KeyValues format and its installdir propertydetermines the game directory name.

Using ntfs has disadvantages. It happens often that shaders cache folder becomes corrupted. Messages saying ntfs3: sdb6 ino=1921f, steamapprun_pipeline_cache Looks like your dir is corrupt. You cannot fix that from linux. You need to boot to Windows and use chkdsk for that.

This FS has disadvantage that it is case-insensitive. You will get such message: SteamLibrary has both 'SteamApps' and 'steamapps' directories. This will cause problems. Please fix manually and only keep 'steamapps' See issue #7665

Some systems and configurations seem to have issues with HTTP2. Disabling HTTP2 will probably yield faster downloads on those configurations. You can either use the console command @nClientDownloadEnableHTTP2PlatformLinux 0 or set it in steam_dev.cfg like so:

Launching Steam with Flatpak might warn you about installing the steam-devices package. This package currently does not exist but game-devices-udevAUR can be installed instead, see Gamepad#Device permissions.

The question of whether F1 Manager is steam Deck compatible is a good one. The Steam Deck has been around for a little while now, and there are many who have ditched the console to try it out. With graphics similar to those found on consoles and a portable design, many find it a great alternative. That being said, there are still many games that launch without having Steam Deck compatibility. ff782bc1db
