To help St. Charles School District 303 students access equal learning and academic opportunities regardless of obstacles created by race, culture, primary language, financial circumstances, family situation, or personal hardship so that every student within the St. Charles School District has an equalized opportunity for academic achievement.
Inequality can be shaped by factors such as race, gender, culture, language, socioeconomic status, or family circumstances. Every student carries a unique combination of advantages and challenges based on the opportunities available to them. While these factors are unrelated to a student’s intelligence or innate abilities, they can significantly influence academic outcomes, success, and overall achievement.
As in many communities, some students in the St. Charles School District face significant disparities in access to out-of-school resources due to economic barriers. Families with greater financial means are often able to provide their children with extracurricular enrichment and academic support, while those with limited resources may not have the same opportunities. This inequity contributes to a widening gap in learning and achievement over time.
STC L.E.A.R.N. collaborates with D303 families and staff to support students in need by helping fund academic and logistical resources outside of the regular school day. Our mission is rooted in equity—working together to help close opportunity gaps and ensure every student has access to the tools they need to thrive.
With a referral from a D303 staff member, any family in the district can apply for funding through STC L.E.A.R.N. This support can help provide access to extracurricular academic resources that families believe will benefit their child’s learning and growth.
