Zook House - 1935
317 Fulton Ave.
The architect of this Colonial Revival Cottage was R. Harold Zook. Mr. Zook was one of the architects for the St. Charles Municipal Building, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and a Locally Designated Landmark. Zook was a well-known and highly respected architect in Chicago. Mrs. Frank King originally owned the home.
The structure has the chevron design element in the front stoop, a trademark of Zook's work. The home has bronze thresholds, copper flashing/valleys, 10" wide clapboard siding, the body is limestone, the original shutters with hardware are still in place, and the original curved garage doors are still in place.
The house has a fairytale cottage appearance. It has been maintained very well, both inside and out. Although there have been a few minor alterations to the home over the years, the current owner has gone to great lengths to make those alterations appropriate.
