Beckstrom House - 1904
Beckstrom House
1904
521 Indiana St.
Charles and Eva Beckstrom built this house in 1904 at a cost of $2,520.
Charles and Eva were both born in Sweden and immigrated independently to the U.S. in 1891, Charles to St. Charles and Eva to Michigan. They were married in Chicago in 1899. Charles was a house painter and contractor in the Fox Valley. The couple raised their five children in this house, and it remained in the Beckstrom family for many years.
The Beckstrom House is an excellent example of the Homestead architectural style that was popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries in the Midwest.
