Positive Behavior Intervention SyStem

What is it?

• It is multi-tiered framework to make schools more effective places. It establishes a social culture and the behavior supports needed to improve social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes for all students.

How does it work?

• Each student's behavior is individually tracked and recorded in one place with all teachers and staff working together throughout the whole school during the entire school day.

• Students can earn points that give them positive guiding feedback, as well as opportunity to earn rewards and special privileges.

  • Past years students have voted to use points to earn: homework passes, free period, be the teacher for a class, use the teacher chair for a day, eat in the classroom with pets, etc

• It specifically tracks poor behavior choices enabling students, staff and family to see patterns and trends, and work together to guide the student to making better choices, meanwhile giving multiple chances for reminders and redirections.

  • For every 5 behavior marks in 1 week, a student will receive 1 infraction.

  • 3 infractions will result in an after-school detention
