Stats AI ("Stats AI", "we", "us", or "our") is a statistics learning and problem-solving app. This Privacy Policy explains what information Stats AI collects, why we use it, when it is shared, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you.
By using Stats AI, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
When you create or use an account, we may receive:
your email address;
your display name, if provided;
a Firebase account identifier; and
the sign-in provider you use, such as Apple, Google, or email and password.
Firebase Authentication handles passwords. Stats AI does not receive or store your password in readable form. If you use Apple or Google sign-in, we receive only the account information that provider makes available based on your settings and permissions.
When you use the solving or tutoring features, we process the content you provide and the content generated for you, which may include:
typed statistics questions;
photos of questions, worksheets, notes, or textbook pages;
text recognized from those photos;
generated answers, calculations, explanations, and suggested follow-up questions; and
messages and conversation summaries from the AI statistics tutor.
Please do not submit private, confidential, or sensitive personal information that is not needed to answer your statistics question. In particular, avoid including names, student numbers, contact details, health information, financial information, or other identifying information in photos or question text.
We process information needed to provide free and Pro access, enforce product limits, restore purchases, and prevent duplicate charges or requests. This may include:
your current plan and entitlement status;
product and offering identifiers;
purchase, renewal, cancellation, expiration, and restore events;
price and currency information supplied by the app store;
the number of solves, image-recognition attempts, and tutor messages used; and
request identifiers, timestamps, counters, and limited request-replay records.
Apple and Google process payments. Stats AI does not receive your complete payment-card details.
Stats AI uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app and subscription experience are used. Firebase Analytics may automatically process app-instance identifiers, app and device information, operating system and platform information, app version, session and interaction events, and coarse geographic information derived by Google from network information.
We also record limited custom events about the paywall and purchase flow, such as:
when the paywall is viewed or closed;
whether an offer loads;
which plan is selected;
whether a purchase or restore starts, completes, is cancelled, remains pending, or fails;
the paywall entry point, product identifier, price, and currency;
the number of completed AI solves at that time; and
elapsed time and a general error category when relevant.
Our custom analytics events do not include your question text, photos, recognized text, generated solutions, tutor messages, email address, display name, or Firebase account identifier. We do not set a Firebase Analytics user ID. On iOS, the Analytics integration is built without advertising-identifier support. We do not use Analytics for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
We may process:
IP addresses, user-agent or platform information, authentication status, and App Check or device-attestation information;
one-way hashed network or account identifiers used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and security;
diagnostic metadata needed to investigate failed requests; and
messages and attachments you send when contacting support.
We do not request access to your contacts, precise location, or microphone.
If you choose to scan or upload a problem, Stats AI asks for camera or photo-library access. The app creates an optimized copy of the selected image and sends it through our Firebase backend to our AI provider so the question can be recognized and answered.
The original photo is not added to your cloud history and is not intentionally retained by Stats AI after processing. A cryptographic request fingerprint and the recognized text or generated response may be retained temporarily for reliability and duplicate-request handling. If you save or keep the result, the recognized question and solution may appear in your on-device and synced history.
If you enable study reminders, the app schedules notifications on your device. Reminder preferences are stored on the device. Stats AI does not upload your reminder schedule or use remote push notifications for these reminders.
You can change camera, photo-library, and notification permissions in your device settings.
We use information to:
create and secure accounts;
recognize, solve, and explain statistics questions;
provide AI tutor conversations and conversation summaries;
save and sync solution history and tutor conversations across signed-in devices;
provide calculators, practice activities, reminders, and preferences;
provide free and Pro entitlements and enforce usage allowances;
process, restore, and support subscriptions;
measure app and paywall performance and improve the user experience;
prevent fraud, abuse, excessive automated use, and duplicate requests;
respond to support requests; and
comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Stats AI does not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising and do not display third-party advertising.
Stats AI stores some information locally so the app remains responsive and useful. This can include appearance and study preferences, activity progress, reminder settings, usage displays, cached entitlement status, solution history, and tutor conversations.
For signed-in users, locally stored history is scoped to the current account. When you sign out or change accounts, history from another account should not be displayed.
For signed-in users, up to 250 recent solutions and up to 250 recent tutor threads may be synced through Firebase Cloud Firestore under that user's account. Only the authenticated user can access their own synced records under our Firestore security rules.
Calculators and practice activities can be used without sending their content to the AI service. AI solving and tutoring require an authenticated account and network processing.
We disclose information only as needed to operate Stats AI, comply with law, protect users and the service, or complete a transaction.
We use Firebase Authentication for sign-in, Cloud Firestore for account data and synced history, Cloud Functions for backend processing, App Check for service protection, and Firebase Analytics for app measurement. Google may process account, request, device, app-instance, interaction, and network information to provide these services. See Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.
We use the OpenAI API to recognize question images and generate statistical solutions and tutor responses. Relevant question text, optimized images, solution context, and recent tutor messages may be sent to OpenAI. API requests are made with storage disabled (store: false). OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. Limited abuse-monitoring logs may be retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days unless a different legally required or approved retention arrangement applies. See OpenAI API data controls.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements and purchase status across Apple and Google. RevenueCat may receive an app-user identifier, product and entitlement identifiers, purchase status, store, price, currency, and transaction timestamps. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Apple or Google processes purchases, billing, refunds, and store account information under its own privacy policy. Stats AI receives transaction and entitlement information needed to provide access, but not full payment-card details.
We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request, investigate fraud or misuse, protect the rights and safety of users or others, or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of the service. If ownership changes, this Privacy Policy will continue to apply unless you are notified otherwise.
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above:
Account information: while your account is open, plus limited time afterward where required for security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or provider backup cycles.
Synced solutions and tutor conversations: until you delete an item, clear history, or delete your account, subject to operational backups and provider deletion cycles.
On-device information: until you remove it in the app, sign out where applicable, reset app data, or uninstall the app.
Temporary completed AI responses: approximately 7 days for safe retry and duplicate-request handling. These records contain a request fingerprint and response, not the uploaded image itself.
Free solve usage: a lifetime counter is retained to provide the three-solve free trial and prevent it from being reset by reinstalling the app.
Pro usage and tutor counters: generally up to 425 days so monthly allowances, retries, transfers, and disputes can be handled correctly.
Daily image-recognition counters: generally up to 45 days.
RevenueCat webhook records: generally up to 400 days. Customer identities are stored in hashed form in this event ledger.
Rate-limit records: generally about 2 hours and stored using one-way hashed network or account identifiers.
Entitlement cache records: temporarily, based on the subscription status and a short expiry period.
Analytics: according to the retention controls configured for Firebase Analytics. Aggregated reporting may remain longer than event-level data.
Support communications and legal records: for a reasonable period needed to respond, keep business records, resolve disputes, or comply with law.
Deletion may not be immediate from encrypted backups or systems operated by our service providers. Those copies are isolated from ordinary use and removed according to the provider's deletion cycle. Apple and Google may retain transaction records independently under their own legal obligations and policies.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted network transport, Firebase Authentication, App Check, account-scoped Firestore security rules, server-side entitlement checks, rate limiting, request validation, restricted secrets, one-way hashing for selected security identifiers, and bounded retention for temporary backend records.
No system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, email account, sign-in provider, and Stats AI account.
Stats AI and its service providers may process information in Australia, the United States, and other countries where they operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. We rely on our providers' contractual, organisational, and technical safeguards for international processing where required.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, or to receive a portable copy.
Within Stats AI, you can:
delete individual solutions or tutor conversations;
clear synced and on-device history;
change reminder and device-permission settings;
restore or manage a subscription through the app store; and
request account deletion from the profile or settings screen.
Deleting your Stats AI account removes the Firebase Authentication account and Stats AI account data targeted by the deletion process and requests deletion of the associated RevenueCat customer record. It does not automatically cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. You must cancel an active subscription through the store that billed you.
Because we do not attach your Firebase account identifier to our Analytics events, account deletion may not identify and remove previously aggregated or pseudonymous Analytics reporting. You can use applicable device or operating-system privacy controls to limit certain collection.

Stats AI is not directed to children under 13, or below the higher minimum age required to consent to online services in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child who cannot lawfully consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this section, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or through another reasonable channel.
