Looking For The Opportunity
Looking For The Opportunity
I graduated from university with an economics degree, not a technical one. Since then I have worked in IT for almost 12 years as a business analyst, salesperson, and business development professional. I have not had the chance to work on a commercial project as a developer, but I am actively looking to make a career transition at this point and seeking out a Technical role.
In 2018 I was working as a business development professional and studied various promising technology stacks. My boss introduced to me The Reactive Principles and The Reactive Manifesto.
I started studying Reactive after becoming acquainted with the Lightbend team. The ideas they promoted sunk into my soul so much that I went a little further and dived deeper into the technical aspects of Reactive Architecture through a series of courses.
In 2019 I successfully passed the certification exam to become a Lightbend certified Reactive Architect.
I truly believe in the Reactive Architecture principles. Reactive is the technology of the future, in my opinion. The unfortunate turn of events around COVID-19 has strengthened my belief that global digital transformation is inevitable. Those who do not transform will fail.
To strengthen my technical skillset, I decided to learn Scala as an advanced language for building Reactive applications.
I had studied Akka extensively in the Programming Reactive Systems online course.
When building an actor system, it is similar to writing a theatrical play; each character has it's own name and role. You describe their behavior, their temperment, their "everyday" duties, their birth and death. And of course dialogues, (lots of dialogue) including asks and promises. This is very interesting and fascinating activity.
Akka is a perfect instrument for building Reactive applications, and Scala adds elegance to them.

Apache Spark with Scala - Hands On with Big Data
In 2013 I successfully passed Java SE offline course. Yep, it was 8 years ago, I even lost my certificate somewhere :)
I have since found my portfolio work, although it requires MySQL to be installed and run, and it only has Russian localization.
I like Scala and I’m absolutely in love with Akka. That is why I would like to take part in production projects as a developer. My dream job is to eventually Architect a high volume system. Ultimately to achieve this goal, however, I need to start somewhere.
For the first 3 - 6 months I am flexible on my compensation rate, it’s up to the team which will take me under their wing. The only thing I need is mentoring. I can start from easy tasks with a gradual increase in complexity. And, of course, I am eager to learn more.

It's better to try and regret once than to regret all your life that you haven't tried.
I joined EPAM Systems as Data Software Engineer in November,2021. Here I successfully passed 3 month Big Data program and now I'm working on commercial project for one of the huge and well-known international retailer. Many thanks to those people who believed in me and gave me a chance.
