Do-san stumbles upon the term Apollon Artemis (Apollo and Artemis, gods from Greek myth who are twins) in the ransomware, which he recalls as Sin-heong and Sin-jeong, the former developers of Injae Company. Dong-chun meets a reporter and gives Ji-pyeong his business card, who tells him that the reporter always writes articles attacking start-ups unless given a stock in their company. Ji-pyeong runs to their office to stop the interview, but In-jae tells him that she is confident that they can outsmart the reporter. They tell the reporter they already have the names of the perpetrators of the ransomware attack and the mastermind, Sang-su, who are arrested by the police. The reporter no longer teams up with the saboteur. During the bidding day for the autonomous car system at the DQ smart city, they pass as one of the finalists. The friends all give different promises that could be borderline ludicrous if they win the bid, and Do-san says he will propose which surprises Dal-mi. During a lecture by Doo-jung, In-jae confronts him with the withdrawal of her adoption rights and announces her name reversal to Seo In-jae. She finally meets Won-deok for the first time since her departure to the US at her old home and shows the revocation of her adoption. During her visit, Won-deok tells Ji-pyeong to always call or visit her even when he is doing well. Ji-pyeong comes across a company that provides aids for orphans in the same situation he was once in and personally invests. Ji-pyeong also runs into Dal-mi and tells her that the Nam Do-san in the letters are not him, as he hadn't looked for her during the 15 years, yet Do-san met her the first day he read them. Dal-mi aspires to scale up so In-jae asks Seon-hak on behalf of her to look for an investor, which she forwards to Ji-pyeong. He meets with Do-san to state his intention to invest, which he accepts. Dal-mi is shown presenting at the bid.

Alright, so first off I want to start by saying I enjoyed this kdrama. It got me hooked from the start and hit on some amazing topics throughout the drama. However, I was really disappointed how it ended.

Every clue/cliche/situation in the kdrama book was shown to tell you that dosan would end up with dalmi. Literally everything. So from the very first episodes i knew dosan and dalmi would end up together.

First, it is clear that when the producers of Start-Up set out to make a show about the world of venture capital and tech start-ups, they did their research. The technical aspects of the series are more believable and detail-oriented than one might expect from a K-drama. The show revolves around Samsan Tech, a start-up consisting of three ragtag but talented developers. Under the guidance of a new CEO, Seo Dal-mi, Samsan Tech wins a hackathon to earn a coveted acceptance into the start-up accelerator Sandbox. As Samsan Tech grows, the company endures many real-world problems faced by founders of early-stage start-ups, such as cutthroat competition, predatory investors, and forced reconciliation of profit versus purpose. The show even ventures into heavier territory, showing that most start-ups are unsuccessful and can destroy friendships, lives, and families.

Often times, new businesses fail to make a proper business plan for their start-ups. This is why a lot turn out into a failure. Start with the end in mind. What are your plans in case you fail to support your funding? Will you allow investors? Will you sell out shares? From this series, Han Ji Pyeong has taught Samsan Tech to distinguish their Revenue Model apart from the Business Model. This allows your business to expand its funding while you find your way to your right market without bleeding money.

Grace: I honestly felt the series could've ended by Episode 13. I wondered how the last two episodes would turn out, and hoped they wouldn't be dragging. But Episodes 14 and 15 were crucial in tying loose ends and giving certain characters the closure they need. I'm satisfied with the ending. I appreciated the honesty of both Nam Do-san and Han Ji-pyeong, and I'm glad with how they decided to move on from their rivalry. They had a very honest conversation and opened up about why they envy each other, and that's not an easy thing to admit so it was admirable of them to be blunt about it. There was a short scene where they hugged each other and laughed after, and I thought they could be really good friends. As for Seo Dal-mi, it was her dream to become a CEO, and she made it happen with flying colors (rainbow colors if you may). At first, she simply wanted to get into Sandbox to beat her sister but she later realized that goal was meaningless, and so she decided to do it for herself and her happiness. In the end, she made her sister proud. Seo In-jae also proved her talent and skills sans the wealth and connection of her adoptive father. I'm also happy that Seo Dal-mi was reunited with her mother and her sister. It was also great how Ms. Yoon ended up investing in the start-up Seo Dal-mi and Seo In-jae worked so hard on, as she was supposed to do for their father.

Think of it as a seed. A start-up is like a budding plant. After ample time, energy, and resources used, it will soon be a fruit/crop that is ready for harvesting that will be brought to a market for consumers to buy.
