Rules for Junior archers shooting outdoors from April 2021

As a club, the safety of our Junior members is paramount and as such, they are under our guidance and control. Organised children’s sport can take place outdoors with any number of participants, but Juniors should maintain the rules on social contact before and after the sporting activity.

The committee believes that the following rules meet the safety requirements specified by Archery GB.

  1. This guidance relates to Junior archers only.

  2. Indoor shooting is not permitted at the time. The Clubhouse may NOT be used for any purpose. The outside toilets will be open for use.

  3. All Juniors wishing to shoot must book a place in the usual way, with Margaret Shorrock, by Thursday each week.

  4. Only Juniors with their own equipment will be able to shoot. The club rental equipment will not be available at this time.

  5. The wearing of a face mask is no longer required and it will be up to the individual Member to decide for themselves whether or not to wear one. Other members MUST respect the individual’s choices in this matter.

  6. The Junior club Saturday sessions will recommence on the 3rd of April 2021. There will be one session only, for ALL Juniors, from 9:30 am to approximately 1:30 pm. Lanes 1 to 9 will be used for shooting with four details in operation, to comply with social distancing requirements. Each Junior will be responsible for collecting their own arrows.

  7. The movement of targets will be completed under the usual rules and strictly under the guidance of the coaches/instructors. There should be one person on the front legs and one person on the back leg.

  8. Target faces and pins will be the responsibility of the coaches/instructors who will place, take down and retain for reuse.

  9. Access to the toilets will be allowed.

  10. Hand sanitiser will be placed on a table near the WC’s for Members to use. Members are also asked to bring their own supply if possible, to be used during shooting, The club will also leave spray bottles of disinfectant inside the toilets to be used after each use.

When not shooting juniors must observe the ‘rule of six’ and not congregate in any group of more than six people, including parents/guardians.
