Javier Huerta Calvo

Professor of Spanish Literature at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and founder of the Instituto de Teatro de Madrid (ITEM). Among his recent individual and collective publications stand out El teatro breve en la Edad de Oro (Laberinto, 2003), El viaje entretenido (Gredos, 2003), Historia del teatro español (Gredos, 2003), Teatro español de la A a la Z (Espasa, 2005), Historia del teatro breve en España (Iberoamericana/Vervuert, 2008), Manual de literatura (lecturas y homenajes) (Devenir, 2016) y El Teatro Español Universitario: espacios de libertad durante el franquismo (Peter Lang, 2020). He has edited the Obra completa of Leopoldo Panero (Astorga, 2007), and commissioned the exhibition La Barraca, teatro y universidad: ayer y hoy de una utopía (2011). In addition, he has written the dramatic texts El dolor es un largo viaje, Retablillo de La Barraca y Bululú del farandul, among other original works.

Beatriz Cabur

An innovative and multi-faceted theatre professional who started her career in the year 2000, Beatriz Cabur has written and directed over forty plays in Spain, Mexico, Italy, Austria, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Graduated in Playwriting and Theatre Directing from the RESAD. Master of Advanced Studies in Audiovisual Communications from the UC. She has become a versatile theatre director and playwright with a decade expertise in digital and online theatre, directing and creating plays for twitch, zoom, facebook, twitter, skype and livestream channels since 2012. Beatriz is also Founder and Head of Theatre.University. Founder of The Theatre Times. Founder of Liga de las Mujeres Profesionales del Teatro. Member of the international network for working playwrights, The Fence. Member of Women in the Arts and Media Coalition. International Member of League of Professional Theatre Women.

In this digital theatre workshop, the attendees will learn digital theatre playwriting and directing tools; resources and specific software used in live streamed plays; and common avoidable mistakes we make while staging digital theatre. In the second part of the workshop the attendees will implement this knowledge creating a short digital play.
