History of Stafford

Staffordshire is a landlocked province in the West Midlands of England. It neighbours Cheshire toward the north west, Derbyshire and Leicestershire toward the east, Warwickshire toward the south east, West Midlands and Worcestershire toward the south, and Shropshire toward the west. The noteworthy area of Staffordshire incorporates Wolverhampton, Walsall, and West Bromwich, these three being taken out in 1974 to the new district of West Midlands. Stafford Castle is an antiquated Grade II recorded stronghold arranged two miles west of the town of Stafford in Staffordshire, England. The fourteenth century fortified stone tower was knocked down in 1643, during the Civil War, having been occupied for the Royalists by Lady Isabel Stafford.
