Frequently Asked Questions
Who can volunteer?
Volunteers of all ages are welcome! Many roles are family-friendly, though some positions may require adults or specific experience. Please select the Adult Volunteer or Youth/Student Volunteer option when signing up.
Why are volunteers asked to select categories in the “I Am” section?
The “I Am” section helps us better organize volunteer assignments and see how our parish, school, ministries, teams, and families are coming together to support the picnic. It also helps us welcome new volunteers, support family participation, and create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the event.
Thank you for helping us build community as One Parish, One School, One Community!
Can I volunteer with my child or teen?
Yes! We highly encourage families to serve together, as this creates wonderful memories and moments together. Please make sure every family member is signed up individually. (i.e don't use one slot for 2 or more people.)
How long are volunteer shifts?
Most shifts range from 1.5–3 hours depending on the role. You can see the shifts in detail on each sign up.
Do I need prior experience?
No experience is necessary for most positions. Instructions and guidance will be provided as needed.
Can I sign up for more than one shift?
Absolutely! We welcome volunteers to serve in multiple areas if desired.
What if I need to change or cancel my volunteer shift?
We understand that schedules can change! If you are no longer able to serve during your scheduled shift, please contact the Picnic Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible so we can help adjust coverage and support our volunteer teams.
Will I know my exact assignment before the picnic?
Some volunteer roles, like the game assignments, will be finalized closer to the picnic date based on volunteer needs and event logistics. Additional information will be shared at the Volunteer Information Meeting and through follow-up communication before the picnic. You may be asked to change roles during the picnic if urgent needs arise.
What should I do when I arrive at the picnic?
Please check in at the Hospitality Tent at the beginning of your shift for instructions and direction.
We will also have a Volunteer meeting prior to the picnic to cover specifics and answer any questions.
